convert µg/l to g/l

    hi,
    i bought an alcohol breathalizer off ebay but it does not use irish units. can anyone tell me what 35µg/l is in g/l thanks

    I think that should be 35 µg/100 ml, as in 35 µg of alchohol per 100 ml of breath. Even though your tester measures breath, it probably converts it to the more well known BAC (Blood alcohol concentration), where at the moment for Ireland the limit is 0.08, which means 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood. This will be chaning to 0.05 soon (0.02 for learners and professional drivers), once new equipment arrives capable of testing at this new threshold.

    There's other units in use too, if the above doesn't seem correct maybe post the unit your tester gives you the concentration in, and we can double check.

    Also, I wouldn't trust those testers too much, particularly if it says you're 'just under' the limit. The real testers in the Garda stations have to be calibrated regularly to ensure they keep their accuracy. A cheap one off eBay isn't going to be all that reliable.
