Can I be cut?

I played in a 2 man team comp today. Stableford off full handicaps, one to score on each hole.

I came in on 16 holes and when signing cards got the other team to put my score down on the 2 holes I didn't come in on (beside the better score) before signing the card.

I had 41 points; can I ask to be cut? Am looking to get my handicap down. Was thinking of ring the handicap sec and asking him but though would throw it out here first to see what people think.

No you wont be cut, at least not straight away. If you featured in the competition then its a notable. Report it to your club (if it was an away comp) and it will be taken into account when the h/c committee do a general play adjustment (GPA). You will usually need two notables at least to be considered for a cut. The actual size of the cut will depend on your h/c category.

    Is there a specific reason?

Because it was a 2 man competition.

Yes, it wasn't a singles competition so there can't be a standard scratch

The thinking behind this is that a 2 man comp is fundamntally different than a singles.

Th rules of Golf are supposed to be practical and in this case they are

In a two man team say your partner holes out for a par with no shot= two points.

You have a four foot downhill putt for a par with a shot...you can rally go for it knowing your partner has already got the 2 points.

Wheras in singles you would have to be careful to avoid three putting !

    See ?
