    Evening,

Taking a couple of days in the maiden city later this week and was looking for some advice/recommendations on how to entertain, amuse & distract wife and two kids while not spending two fortunes. Thinking so far of the riverside centre and the harbour museum. We're heading up on Thursday and staying til Saturday so have a few days to kill.

    Cheers,
    Mark

I brought some American visitors to Derry a few years back. The walking tour of the Walls and the tower museum were excellent if your kids are older. I wouldn't waste time on the open top bus if it's still going - there is not enough to see to justify it.

Thanks for that - hadn't thought of the tower museum. A lot handier to get to as we're staying in the city centre

Take them to see the derelict Foyle Valley Railway Museum - a monument to the useless City Council.

What ages are the kids? The bowling alley in derry is good craic, lots of games and if they are quite young there is a play house in it too

Wow that's 5 posts in August on the Derry Forum, things are really humming! The Wesht's Awake but not apparently the North West. Where are all those aspiring United Irelanders and why do they not wish to communciate with the rest of us? :D

Thanks to all for your suggestions. Had an enjoyable couple of days, despite the constant rain - varied between constant drizzle and a wet day in Ballymena - but we are where we are and you've gotta be prepared for it I suppose.
Fair bit on about the town with the Feile and Maiden City Festivals in full swing. Had completely forgotten about Saturdays big event but we had to be on the road bright and breezy anyway! Between those and a walk of the walls (you forget how long round it is when you're pushing a buggy and negotiating the steps) there was plenty to keep all occupied and amused.

    Thanks again,
    Mark
