new folder overwritten with older version. HELP!!!

    Ok, probably the stupidest thing I've ever done.

    I was attempting to back up a project by copying the project folder from my internal drive and pasting it over an older version of the project folder in my backup external drive. What I actually did was the opposite, pasting the old folder into my internal drive. I hit cancel almost immediately, but all I'm left with is an empty folder (and the old version on the external drive).

    Is there any way to recover this? I'm an idiot, really important work stuff too.

    Any help would be job saving.

    Have you done any research on how you might do it? Anything that looks promising? I'm sure there are a million forum threads like this all over the internet. I hope you manage to recover your stuff.

    nope, no hope I think. Tried some recovery software but all the files come out completely garbled and out of order. AH WELL. Back stuff up in future:eek:

    Data Rescue? Its designed to rescue files off faulty drives but will find deleted stuff.
