Minimum requirements will be a rooftop aerial to get Saorview, for your Irish channels.

And then get yourself a Freesat box which will of course need a satellite dish installed too. This will get your English channels. You can buy this as a SD receiver or a HD one, which will get you the likes of BBC 1 HD, BBC HD, C4 HD, ITV HD, should look good on your new telly. But if not a big TV watcher then the cheapo SD one might suffice.

Any more questions feel free to ask.

Yeah with Saorview and Freesat there is no additional cost other than getting up and running in the 1st place. Getting Freesat can be costly enough considering you need a new receiver and have to buy a dish and probabky pay to have it installed.

I see your TV set doesn't appear on the Saorview official list of TVs that have a tuner built-in that will pick up Saorview signal.

This means that you may have to buy an additional Saorview set top box to plug your aerial cable into, and then attach that receiver to your plasma.

Samsung PS42C450 does H.264 HP@ level 4, according to P.38 of the manual, so will at least display all channels.
