7&half 32gr or 34gr not the 27gr used for clay shooting, or a number 6 for second or wary birds

i usually use the cheapest:D i have shot hundreds of pigeons with 7 1/2 28g. I think 36g is abit of overkill thou but if he wants to use them and hes popping the pigeons, why not:)

hey pal been in your shoes a few times best thing in my opion is to go with what you feel confident with, this makes more of a diffrence in my opion, I am a 6,36g man and always get the "their the wrong cartiages speach" we I explain what I wont them for, so I have tried all sorts but still go back to 36g only because this is what i feel most confident shooting they dont distroy the birds and I put down way more birds with them so stick with what your used to.

I agree, 7 or 7 1/2 28gr do it for me. My AYA has only 25inch barrels, and is quiete light so 36gr 6's all day are a fair bit of punishment for me, maybe if I had a semi-auto

agree pal have a lamber with 28in barrels come home in bits black an blue on a good day with the 36gs but I will take that rather than hitting birds and not putting them down, I had a day last year over frost when I tried 30-32gs noticed alot of blood splatter over the feild from birds I hit but didn't put down so I stopped and went snip shotting with 30gs putting them down no probs.
stick with what your used to and confortible with.

you can shoot 42grm loads if you want and still have birds hit and flying off
the secret with shooting a shotgun is finding out what cartridge suits your gun and choke combination best . a 7/28 grm shell is well able to kill pigeons cleanly if it's shot from a tube that will give a proper pattern and not full of holes
