Aspirations for the coming season

    Club: Forest

Hope: Would love a top 2 finish or at worst a playoff place.

Reality: Have lost alot of players which will leave the squad very thin. Injuries to the first team are inevitable and there's not much to fall back on. Will do well to make the playoffs unless the squad is dramatically beefed up.
Perhaps Shteve could get us a few dutch masters.

    reality: top 6

    Leeds

Hope: Win the division with a record points total and have it all sewn up by Easter

Reality: Based on yesterday's performance against Southampton, avoiding relegation would be an achievement unless Ken Bates takes the padlock off his wallet.

    Sunderland:

Hope: Top 10 finish, above Newcastle, unbeaten in the derbies, a decent cup run, no injury crisis and no long win less run again.

Reality: Top 10 finish, above Newcastle, lose at least one of the derbies and only progress a round or two in the cups.

To be honest I'd be happy with a top 10 finish and above Newcastle though! :)

    Arsenal.

Hope: "We will definitely sign some players"
Reality: "We tried our best but our offer of £5 and and a can of Coke was not enough to buy Mata/Cahill/Jagielka. I am confident in our quality."

    Newcastle

Hope: Mike Ashley to announce that he is putting the club up for sale, another 5-1 mauling of 5under1and would be lovely to show who the real top dogs of the North East are (ain't that right Paully mate ;)), maybe a bit of a run in the Carling Cup and stay up.

Reality: Mike Ashley to go batshít crazy and sack Pardew after a decent run of results and offer his mate Llambias to manage the club, a loss to 5under1and in the first derby of the season but a resounding 3-0 win in the return fixture, a 4th round exit of the Carling Cup to Manchester United and a 17th place finish but I'd take that right now if you offered it.

    Liverpool.

Hope: Suarez, Gerrard(already not going to happen) and Agger to have injury free seasons and we finish top four.

    Reality: um, Top 4

    Manchester Utd

Hope: For Fergie to magically become 30 years younger, sign Messi, Xavi and Iniesta, Mike Phelan to buy some trousers and of course win the quadruple.

Reality: all of the above. You heard it here 1st. ;)

You lot should be looking at much more than finishing above us; bought a lot of players - no excuses this year! ;)

    Club: Newcastle United

Hopes: Steady season - team gel quickly and record another midtable finish or thereabouts. Would be good to continue our quality record as the better team against 5under1and H2H as well - but avoiding relegation is the main worry we have to concentrate on putting to bed.

Reality: Injuries will play their part in our season like every othyher campaign we've had. Pardew could leave or be sacked. If anyone's playing decent in January they could be sold. Mike Ashley to make another headless, ridiculous decision to upset the applecart. Just scrape through the bottom 3 - and avoid demotion to the nPower Championship.

    One can only hope. :)

    Unlike last year, it's realistic.

Club Rangers Hopes: League and one of the cups
Also a decent run in the Europa League
McCoist to be successful as a manager though I
have my fears on that happening

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,752 ✭✭✭markesmith

Spurs. 4th and the FA Cup, and that Modric, Bale & Sandro stay.

Reality: 7th and a trend that reads something like :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,517 ✭✭✭VW 1

    United

Hope: Play some exciting football with our young new signings, on the way to picking up the league and CL

Reality: Play some exciting football, probably get run close by City and Chelsea in the league, and a decent run in the CL until we meet Barca and who knows what will happen then!:pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,224 ✭✭✭✭Marty McFly

    Arsenal

Hope: We make a few key signings and win something anything really and manage to stay in the top four.

Reality: Be in great form shutting all those motor mouth journalists up be in with a chance of doing a treble quadruple only to prove them all right when we implode around March and go into free fall to win nothing and Wenger make loads more promises.

    Liverpool

Win everything obviously. Quadruple a mere formality at this point.

    Manchester United:

Hope: Win the League and Champions League. Our talented bunch of youngsters to get plenty of first team action.

Reality: Win #20 and either a Quarter/Semi exit of the Champions League with our youngsters only really featuring in Carling/FA Cup, possibly with a few heading out on loan.

I don't think we'll fold. Not with Dalymount and the car park. We'll be fúcked over for these two and be left renting tolka or santry.
