JSA+payments for qualified child

I hope someone might be able to answer my query. When I applied for JSA last September, my son was 19 and about to enter 1st year in college. When I was asked on form for names and ages of all dependents I listed him along with my 3 other children. When the paperwork was done and JSA granted he was not listed as a qualified dependent as he was over 18 and not in full time education. As I was unfamiliar with the system I did not query this, but now I realise that when he started college and therefore returned to full time education I should have claimed for him. This only came to light recently when I applied for the first time for BTSCFA and received a letter from them saying that he should be receiving a qualified child payment. My question is now that he has a part time job, is there any point in applying for him to be a qualified dependent on my JSA claim and is there any likelihood that I would receive the payments for last year backdated?
    Many thanks for any help.
