I hope its true, and I hope that she does run. I'd get a great pleasure in seeing her face as the votes come in when she faces national humiliation.

And as I've said in another thread the more money FF throw at this election the less they will have at the next elections. Bring it on.

She wasnt even wanted as the leader of her own party.. Where did she finish.. fourth? She's delusional if she thinks she has a chance..

I have less faith in the Irish electorate. FF is a rural cult and if they put someone forward you'll still have "FF houses" voting for their person, especially when up against a blueshirt and a lefty. It's not logical but it is how a large part of the Irish electorate work. I wouldn't expect her to win but I wouldn't expect her to be humiliated either. Some people will still vote for a FF candidate.

To be honest about it, Fianna Fáil knows that the Presidency isn't attainable this year, but the grassroots need a morale boost, and there's nothing like taking a hammering at a doorstep to make you feel good about yourself that you're not as miserable as the gob****e abusing a canvasser.

Classic example in that Vincent Brown clip of a politician treating the public like morons, knowing that a certain percentage are. Who could listen to her lying through her teeth there, refusing to answer a question, and then go out and vote for her? That's an amazing video.

Beautifully typical of the cretin intellect and arrogance of Fianna Fail. I'd expect nothing less given that you are a longstanding crony of the party in Limerick. Willie O'Dea and his chums deserve every bit of abuse they get in Limerick.
That's why I'd consider Fianna Failure to be more of a cult than a political party: they stand for nothing, except winning power for its own sake. You can see that they changed nothing in the country in the last 20 years except to make the rich temporarily richer, and all of us poorer. They have no vision or direction - they just want power.

    Laughable!

People object to a representative of a corrupt party interrupting their evening and you guys still view it as the householder having the problem?

If a representative of the local drug-dealer arrived on my doorstep I'd be right in abusing them, because their actions are despicable and I detest what they represent.

But hey - keep your delusional high moral ground (irony) and we'll soon see the true colours of FF again, where it's all those nasty despicable public people's fault.

Didn't you say somewhere that you wanted reform? The above post proves that you don't - more of the same from FF where they won't even acknowledge real people's opinions of them.

Meanwhile maybe us miserable people might do you a favour and commit suicide ?

Then you could act all high-and-superior again and maybe win power again unopposed by people who recognise corruption and behave accordingly.

    READ THIS CLEARLY

    YOU. DON'T. KNOW. ME

You don't know the internal workings of Fianna Fáil and you don't know the efforts people like me are going to to reform our party.

Maybe if you could be bothered to get politically active and knock on a few doors for an unpopular political individual/movement you might have a little more respect and appreciation for the fact we're actually involved for the purposes of making this country a better place to live.

You don't have to believe me, and knowing your past attitude towards me I doubt you will, but keep hurling on the ditch there.

To be very blunt I suggest that the real reason FF has been the party of choice for some many rotten politicians is because the rank and file are only too happy to tolerate them. If a patch of ground grows rotten fruit, find out what is wrong with the ground.

An input into what? How to ruin the country if ye come to power again once the current debacle which FF caused has been solved?

I've seen & heard enough of the "good social network" that ye guys had when ye were in power, a la the Galway Tent & Cowen in the Ardilaun Hotel.

Go out there and canvas for Sean Gallagher, Gay Byrne, Mary Hanafin, etc., I won't give you abuse but you will certainly not get my vote in thielection nor any others until the day I die.

And then my children won't vote for your toxic party either.

Those anti-corruption reforms have been going on for quite a while, haven't they?
“We will not tolerate any deviation from the benchmark of honour at local level or in Leinster House, be it in the past, present or future. No one is welcome in this party if they betray public trust. I say this and mean this with every fibre of my being. We will write new ethics standards and independent enforcement into the law of the land.”
Bertie Ahern, Fianna Fail ard Fheis 1997

It sort of begs the question why you didn't just join one of the parties that isn't by far the most corrupt, and that actually stands for something?

you might want to drop the high horse mentality. the reason ye get abuse is because your party through the corruption, lies and incompetence cost people their jobs, their savings and in general put Ireland on a one way trip to default
I've no problem telling the people who have pissed on the legacy of 2 generations of my family to go **** themselves.

so while you call the people that made the mistake of electing your spineless TDs miserable gob****es you might want to take a look at why?

Reform wont happen until the party throw out the cancer that caused this mess and the grass root part of the party aren't exactly vocal about getting rid of martin and the others

I'm not the one posting about making myself feel better by writing off valid opinions and concerns at people's doorsteps.

I've no idea how that's supposed to make Ireland a better place.

Maybe you might enlighten me? Maybe I've been delusional all this time re what's good for me, and maybe Ahern was right all along when from day one when his approach caused me to question his sanity and mindset?

Oh, hang on - history and facts are on my side in that regard re FF thinking they know what's best while completely dismissing sanity.

Then don't canvass for a corrupt party that reinstates perjurers; we'll both be happier.

The issue, however, is the attitude that you posted earlier, proving that nothing in FF has changed.

You might not want to "stand there and listen to crap", but neither do I; and someone trying to tell me that Martin reinstating the useless and lying O'Dea is "reform" is talking crap.

If you want to arrive on my doorstep and tell me that, then don't expect a welcome; it's your choice to canvass and who to canvass for, and someone not canvassing is far superior and more deserving of respect than someone canvassing for O'Dea and FF.

Wanting power to improve our society, and wanting power for its own sake are two different things. Guess which camp Fianna Failure are in? They've ruined this country at least 3 times now. Morons will still vote for them though, because they 'are' Fianna Failure, or their parents 'are' Fianna Failure, or whatever.

Out of the three FFers that have shown interest I think the only one I could bring myself to vote for would be Brian Crowley (he's pretty decent and doesn't have any history of the crap that went on in the party) but that's mainly because FG utterly screwed up and put an arch-conservative on the ticket who I wouldn't vote for if you paid me to do so.

never mind the Indo's, they may row in with SF; i suspect SF will come up with a Game-changer who

ultimately can win. Still racking my brains who would be the euro-skeptic

that SF would approach since there has yet to be a candidate who voices a dim

view of eu bail-outs, loss of sovereignty..
