    I'm abroad so can't call Volvo right now. Wondering if anyone knows the quick answer (google wont tell me) to this;

    I want a Volvo V70, but I want to add the extra 2 boots seats as an extra. I know I can't do it to the new model, want to know what's the latest year I can do it with and if, indeed, they'll still fit the seats for me at all.

    Anyone helpful?

    2000 to 2007. (Facelifted in 2005)

    Retrofitting the boot seat is easy as all the fittings are in place but you will have to inform your insurance company.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

    Do you know if you can do the same with any of the other Volvo estates like the xc 70 for example?

    Looks positive for the xc70.
    xc70 mentioned here in the same vein as the V70 for the 3rd row of seats.

    Ok then, one more question (that I can think of right this minute that is ;) ) Is it the same for the XC70 as the V70? As in, the last year they can be retrofitted with the extra seats being 2007?

    Point is, I'd love a Volvo, need a seven seater, think the XC90 is just WAY too big. Love the V70 and really love the XC70. In an ideal world I'd go out tomorrow and buy an '09/'10 XC70 and either it would have 7 seats or I'd retrofit the seats. How close to my ideal world can I get and am I mad to consider it either way? With the difference in costs of taxing later vehicles etc.

    I'm getting rid of an '06 Grand Scenic and concerns at getting a "new" car that is only one year younger than my "old" car.

    XC70 is basically a V70 with plastic cladding and raised ride height. There have been three generations now and they have all been replaced at near exactly the same time as the regular V70 estate car. This means that if you are looking for an XC70 with a third row of seats, you will have to go for an '06/07 last of the previous model.
