My contract is up with O2 at the end of this month and I'll be changing networks. Was really considering moving to Three and getting an iPhone 4 but the more Nd more I hear about their data issues, the more I think I'm going to go to Meteor.

Meteor has the least 3G coverage of all the networks. If you're in a major town or city you probably won't find this an issue but outside major towns it drops off.

Three have the widest 3G coverage and also have Vodafone 2G to fall back on in areas where 3G isn't present. However their 3G network suffers contention in a few areas.

Order a free SIM off both Meteor and Three and test in a 3G capable handset to see how you find both.

My wife has an iPhone 3GS she brought from O2 to 3 and is very happy here. The odd time we have to flick airplane more on/off to reconnect to 3G but only rarely. As kensingtonsaid best to test the signal where you live work and play.

I have mine since it launched and have no major problems. Biggest issue was my number never ported when I got the phone. Turns out the lad in the shop put me down as a Three pre pay customer for the port and I was with Meteor. Rang customer care and they sorted it.

The only network issue I have is around the house, it drops from 3G to 2G in certain areas. Doesn't bother me with the data as i'm on wifi but does cause the occasional call to drop.

Other than that I am delighted with the phone and the network. Love the all you can eat data as I stream a lot of video from the home computer when I am away!

I'm with three for about 3 months now and I think the coverage is great. I'm in Dublin but have been around the country and haven't had any issues.

The one issue I have an I don't know if this is a problem just with three or with Iphones in general is that I lose my 3G coverage in the basement at work and it takes an eternity to get it back, even though I'm in areas where I had it before I went into the basement

I'm on iphone4 with 3 and I rarely have problems. Occasionally I'll loose signal while travelling (dub-kildare train like is particularly bad) but in cities and most of the country i've never had a problem. I was even picking up signal at a campsite in remotest connemara there last weekend!

I'm with 3 for about a year now and I've had no problems.I live in a country area. I reckon you have more chance of actually getting good coverage with them outside the cities as there is less contention and they do provide the network for the National Broadband Scheme so they had to cover remote enough areas. My folks live in Dublin and even though i get full bars up there the internet speed is at least half of what I get down here purely because of contention.

    Pros:
All you can eat internet is brill
Cheapest out of all the networks

    Cons:
I've actually found coverage to be pretty poor in some parts of North County Dublin and other parts of the country, leaving me without internet depending on where I am.
The ongoing 'call forwarding' issue seems to have only recently subsided (how long did that take to fix)
Most damning I had an issue where calls randomly wouldn't connect for a couple of weeks. Three were determined on insisting it must be the phone but swapping in O2 and Vodafone sims clearly demonstrated this wasn't the case. This has subsided recently too though.
Signal strength plummets during the night which is a killer on battery, I've often had 30% or so going to bed and woken up to a dead iPhone.

I'm contract free so had swapped over to a 30-day rolling contract with Three to give them a try.

All things considered I'm likely going back to Vodafone in the near future. No question I'll have to pay more but I had none of these issues with them. Shame really as when coverage was good the 'all you can eat' internet was fast.
