I just read this topic, and after being out at MAI this week, I was told by one of the guys there that Airsoft guns are LEGAL. OK so, maybe they are telling the truth or has the law changed since 2004 or whenever that post was?

If you do need a license, how do you go about getting one? Is there an airsoft club who can get them for you if you undergo a training course or something?

They have been legal since 2006, no need for a licence, etc. :)http://www.airsoft-database.info/view.php?title=Ireland%20Airsoft%20Laws

The title is a bit extreme dude but sure anyway MIA couldn't have a full blown shop in a busy industrial estate if the sport was illegal when you think about it!

Thanks Raz, that clears that up.

No offence was intended by the title Releaded. I just wanted to be corrected, since the last time I looked into all this, they were illegal. :p

Your getting mixed up between a Airgun used for clearing vermin from farms, sheds so on and so forth which you need a license for and which Sparks was referencing in the post in the thread posted above. And a Airsoft gun which shoots plastic bb's used in the sport of Airsoft which you do not need a licence for.

Thanks Trout, then I was miles off with this topic. lol

The last time I had an airsoft gun, It was taken off me by the Garda for shooting targets in a field. So I wasn't sure, which is why I asked. I'm all clear now  Thanks lads

Nop, the field wasn't mine mate, but it was a fairly big place and we weren't near any people. so we weren't bothering anyone. Why do you ask mate?

Nah.Because if you had permission or owned it.And no one could see you the guard had no reason to take it off you.
