I haven't used it ages, but Speed Download used to be the best.

    Speed Download is excellent

I bought the license about three years ago and you get free upgrades and it's still works great

There are free options out there but Speed Download is worth paying for imo

I use Freerapid and think it's excellent.

What's the advantage to using these?

I have Chrome/Safari/FF downloading to my Downloads folder and never had an issue.

you can paste links from pretty much any hosting service into the download manager. It accepts login details for premium accounts too for faster downloads.

Most managers have download accelerators built in too.

Ah right, it's a long long time since I've used hosting services but sounds like a neat feature to have built in.

I Find FlashGot plugin for Firefox feeding into Speed Download great with file hosts like "Rap**Share" etc
