"Work" clothes - where to buy?

I've got a job in a designer clothes shop. Eventually I've got to wear their clothes, but for my first few days I've to wear my own. They said simple shirt, trousers and shoes. Where should I go looking for all these? I don't want to spend a fortune but at the same time I know that it has to look well.

I'm sort of hard to fit because I'm tall (6ft3). Parents are giving me the money and obviously want to go as cheap as possible. They've thought Dunnes and I'll definitely look, but am I better sticking to places like Zara? Bit to learn about all this clothes stuff :)

You can be lucky with bits and pieces in Dunnes and Penneys, but their stuff doesn't tend to be very durable and can sometimes look "cheap". I've had to buy a few work-style dresses, blouses and trousers over the last year and I've found that stuff from high-street shops like Zara, Oasis, Topshop and M&S are my favourite and have lasted best. They're pretty reasonably priced anyway, so you're definitely better off putting in a little extra money.

Topshop have a "Tall" range too which usually has nice work trousers in it.

Zara for sure. Dunnes menswear is a bit fuddy duddy.

Definitely Zara. Good prices and good quality, doesn't look cheap like some Penney's clothes can look.

I'm in that zone too as I recently changed jobs! I find for suits Reiss stuff is fab, but pricey. I got some good stuff in the sales. They are investment pieces. For work dresses Next are great. Dunnes also great. French Connection are great for trousers. Once you have good trousers any old v neck jumper will work with them. I actually picked up some nice work jumpers in Tesco for next to nothing!

I think you can go to Zara, they have amazing basic shirts. Gap is also a keeper when it comes to shirts.

Trousers, Zara is a great place or Topshop sometimes but I wouldn't count on the latter.
You can also go to Sisley, the have amazing basic/working clothes which do not look cheap.

As for shoes, you can go to Debenhams, Zara or Office where they sometimes sell very basic shoes.

If you're looking for some cheap designers or high-end clothing, drop by Arnotts :
    - Benetton/Sisley : Shirts and Trousers

    Good Luck'
