I have an issue that i need help with. I am sharing a house with 3 others. there is me(male) another guy and 2 girls, one of which is moving in this weekend, she is a friend of the other girl. the problem is that the girl who moved out promised her room, the largest in the house to myself and the other girl but never let on to either of us she said it to the other. i am there the longest nearly 2 years and the other girl is only there 3/4 months but she got the key of the room and moved her stuff in. she is hardly ever in the house, 3/4 days a week and doesnt need the extra space as she goes home every weekend and i always stay. i spent most of yesterday texting her trying to be cool and make her realise i was screwed over and she should give me the room. loseing patience i am looking for advice/ideas where to go from here, the landlord doesnt give a crap as long as he gets his rent. HELP

I don't understand how someone moving out had the authority to promise her room to anyone. Surely that should be agreed upon by everyone in the house. I do think if there is more than person who wants a room, you, as the one with most seniority should get.

What does the other guy say? This should probably be discussed before the newest person moves in.

How has girl who has moved into the bigger room already (so, what's the abbreviation for that?) reacted to your texts?

I assume that, the bigger room is more expensive?

    1) Talk to the person who moved into the room. Try to catch them in person instead of text. Just tell them that the original girl didn't have the right to give the room to you. Tell her you are the longest there and you have an issue with the room being taken without at least being consulted.

Ask her if she is willing to talk about it to come up with something which everyone is happy with(Or can live with). Ask her if she has any suggestions.

You are going to have to be very diplomatic on this. If you can just talk in person like reasonable adults then maybe it gets settled without any hassle.

    2)Landlord.

This is if talking gets you nowhere. ie You get a "It's mine now so there!" response or some such. If you do this then expect bad blood.

Call the landlord and tell them you have an issue with X taking Ys room. You've been there the longest so you probably shouldve gotten first call. If the landlord says "Not my problem".. then you hand in your notice.

You may like the house but it's a renters market and if after 2 years you dont get a little consideration from the landlord then well.. feck him.

Personally, i'd try to talk to the girl in person and sort it out. If that doesnt work then i'd leave. Whatever you do after that is going to cause bad blood in a house and personally i'm not a fan of living like that.

    Good luck.

She got the key and moved her stuff in first. It's her room. Sh!t happens forget about it.
