    Just ring the insurance company.

No one here will really be able to give you an accurate quote.

The only thing i'll say is that it's going to cost you a lot. 2000ish plus i reckon.

Maybe you could get insured on one of your parents cars for a little while to get some experience?

Your mother already has a car and presumably an insurance policy for that car. You now propose to create a new policy in her name with you as a named driver, they're not that stupid!

yes they obviously know what im doing! yet it would work out cheaper than me going out on my own policy

It's also illegal, and if you do end up needing to claim from them at some point, you'll be doing so out of your own pocket at the end of it all. They're obliged to pay 3rd party claims, but they'll bring you to court to recoup that money, and then you'll have a very hard time trying to find insurance in the future due to having committed insurance fraud.

Do it properly, get insured in your own name and take it on the chin like everyone else has to. You'll end up with a years NCB in your own name at the end of it too, which will only benefit more in the future. named experience isn't worth the paper it's written on.

    how?

It will void the policy....which means no insurance....which is illegal.

You see all these court reports for people driving with no insurance, 90% of those cases are people which invalid policies or people who didn't make transfers to other cars as opposed to people how simply don't bother buying insurance.

If you get a second car quote it will be based on your mum being the registered owner, if the car is reg'd in your name, you mum cannot claim as it's not her car.

Also, the policy will be based on your mum being the main driver. The price will reflect this. Come claim time, if its descovered that you are the main driver and not your mum, it will void the policy

If you really want to insure this car. Insure a car with Quinn , then give it a week or two and transfer the insurance over. Tell them you now own the car they will provide insurance, but be prepared to pay.

    I was 18 on a Full, driving a 1.6 Mivec and it was costing me 260 P/M .

The mother thing is fine once you realise she is going to have a 0 year ncb on your car and it must be registered in her name. As stated she should be the main driver.

Regardless, I think you should start to get your own NCB on the road to be frank , it will serve you better in the long run when you want to get a nice car and get a decent quote.

There are alot of begrudgers on here and if you listen to them you will throw it away. I got the same stick trying to insure my car but I done it in the end and got a decent quote in my name and it is all above board. Keep in there you will get there in the end if you really want it.
