Spent two days there recently and we both really enjoyed it! Stayed in place called Snooze - bit expensive but I thought it was worth it.

The city has a bit of everything in my experience - great shopping - high street and vintage, great bars and great restaurants.

There is the tack that you can't avoid with any seaside town but it is easy to avoid.
