Selling Car - No change of ownership form - Buyer doesn't mind

    Hi

I was hoping someone could give me some advice. Am about to sell my car. The head gasket went on her and she doesn't run. I can't find the change of ownership form. However, I have a buyer. He says he is going to sell it for parts and isn't worried about the form.

If I sell the car without his signature on a change of ownership form, and it is involved in an accident or left on the side of the road, am I then liable? Can I get the buyer to sign an invoice instead, as proof of the sale? Or would this not be sufficient?

    Thanks.

Course he doesn't mind not filling it in...it'll all fall back on you...You are the current registered owner so until that is updated you are liable.

    Get a replacement VLC asap

Yes it would be a silly thing to do and you would be liable for everything were the car put back on the road ie sppeding fines, M 50 tolls parking fines etc.
Fill in a form RF134 loss of licencing cert get it stamped in your local garda station and send off to your local tax office costs € 12 . When you get the new cert fill in the change of ownership details and send off to Shannon.

or take of the numberplates (sure he wouldn't mind as he needs it for parts only). Then declare to shannon that car is written off.
