748F Completes Certification Testing

    Now it's just a matter of paperwork. This warrants a new thread, as it's major news. Other 748 thread can proceed as normal, as it's about flight testing (748i has 150+ more hours to go) and production/delivery (ongoing).

    Second link mentions that certification will be without some features, but one assumes that those features will be tested and enabled later?

    "Key features introduced by the Honeywell flight management computer (FMC), including 0.1nm required navigation performance (RNP) and "quiet climb" ascent profiles, have been deferred, said Mark Feuerstein, Boeing 747 chief test pilot."

    An amazing looking aircraft especially now with the stretched upper deck however I can't see it doing well in sales with the A380 being around now. As far as I know only Korean Air and Lufthansa have made orders for the passenger version.

    I saw one of them flying around Seattle when I was over there - great looking plane.
