Sedo domain auctions - anyone familiar with them?

I have a domain registered firstnameSurname.com and was always looking to acquire my surname.com if it ever became available. Last time I looked an American plumbing company was using this domain but it now seems to be just parked. I tried to find info on it but didn't get very far, the whois shows that it is registered to http://fabulous.com/, a domain management company.

Upon some more searching, I came across Sedo, looks like they auction sites, and they have this site available for sale. I would need to create an account and make an offer. It looks like there has already been 2 offers made. Anyone any experience with Sedo or something similar?

Not a fan of giving money to cowboys who just buy these domains and park them but it would be nice to have this one, probably be willing to give a max of $50 dollars for it.

I've bought a few domains through Sedo and they were fine. It is galling alright to have to pay the price sometimes but .com registrations are a free-for-all so there's not a lot you can do about it.

What sort of ballpark figure would these auctions require to win? This domain would be nice to have but not more than $50 nice and if that is considered small change to these type of people then I'm not going to even bother registering an account with them.

I could not see any domain the have selling for less than a hundred dollars and perhaps even more than that.

Think I will let this go. Did a search on the guy who's parked it and he seems to be a cowboy with lots of domains and has been up in court a few times for trademark and typosquatting going back at least 12 years. $1 is too much to give.
