    Hi, looking for some advice.

I got a summons for non payment of a fine for tax yesterday, it was left in the post box. I had forgotten all about it. is there a way I can pay the fine now to avoid going to court?

No, once a summons has been issued then your case is going to court.

Tax your car. Go to court. Bring all your documents. Plead guilty, and you'll get a fine and be done with it.

Make sure to tax the car back to before the date you got caught.

There's no set fine. The judge will ask you your personal circumstances and decide the fine then. Minimum of €60 though. No penalty points

I was going by recent judgements I saw one day when i was in court (I was there as a witness). There was a few up for no tax, €300 seemed like the round number the judge was lashing out.

Depends on the judge, circumstances of the offence, offenders circumstances etc.
    It's not a set figure

If you have since taxed the car, including any arrears, take evidence of this to the issuing Garda, they may ask for the case to be struck out on these grounds when mentioned during Court session.
