I have never stolen in my life not even as a child.I have asked quite a few people and they all admit to either stealing sweets as a child or drink as a young adult or stealing things from work , stationary first aid kits etc. But i never did, ever, am i the only one out there to never take a thing that wasnt mine and what other interesting or unusual things have people stolen

I had a brief, glorious stint of stealing things from a lost and found box. The rush was intense, man.

Downloading music/movies isn't stealing. It's making a copy. It may be immoral, but you're not actually stealing anything.

The above shows a remarkably poor understanding of copyright law but i like it nonetheless. :D

Downloading movies is stealing in the same way as watching something on TV but changing the channel during the ad break.

You stole my idea for a thread.

As for me...I stole a Mars bar from a shop when younger, but paid for it many years later.

    I also stole this username.

OP - why do you think it is that you have never stolen anything? Good ethics instilled from your parents? Never needed/wanted anything you couldn't afford? Inbuilt sense of right and wrong? Please do tell.

My parents are very honest people so i was reared with good moral values but i always imagined i was the norm and maybe only 25% of people stole but it turns out everyone i ask has at some stage stolen something . Not on high moral ground or anything just very curious

One doesn't have to keep possession of the item for it to constitute stealing OP. Pretty much if you've ever taken something without explicit permission you've stolen in the eyes of the law.

Anyway, went through a klepto stage in school. We used to steal our lunches from the local deli, steal papers and magazines, cooking ingredients for home economics etc. Mitch off to go robbing in Dublin. I was nerd-thief though, used to raid bookstores for fantasy novels and comic books.
