Hi all, I currently own a great little 01 peugeot partner 1.9d straight, 600kg payload, It really is a great van, and the 1.9 non turbo pulls just fine with weight and goes well with nothing in the bck, but its getting to be too small for me and I think I need to upgrade to a larger van. I was thinking along the lines of the primastar/traffic/vivaro, or a swb transit, or even a merc vito, or maybe the vw transporter. What are your opinions on a choice of van, sell it to me! Thanks.

The father in-law (builder) has a LWB T4 Transporter 2.5Tdi. They abuse that thing and rarely service it.. never gives them any bother. I have towed a trailer with a tonne or more of blocks in it too, was grand.

Have a pug partner 1.9 myself. Never given me a days trouble. How come you don't go for a pug expert LWB. They're a pretty big van the LWB version but not too big like the transits. The transits can be a beast to park . Added bonus is you can get it in 1.6 HDI which is a lot more economical then the transit, Hiace, Vivaro-Primaster vans. You get the 3 seats as well. The Vito's are supposed to be very troublesome. Forget about the badge. Mercedes compromised a lot on quality over the last 10 years. Lot of guys in construction that have those vivaro-traffic-primaster vans have all had them in the garage for before due re-placements from fuel pumps to van belts going.

Yeah I've been considering the expert/dispatch, they would be the ideal size I'm after. My only concern is that they're not that pretty! I'd still have one though. Thanks for the good advice, hopefully I have one by the end of the year, all going well.

Toyota Hiace. Very reiable and very robust. RWD too so a bit handier with trailers.

Avoid the Vito, it and its predecessors have never been worthy of the Mercedes name.

I seem to remember there was some kind of internal fuss when the Vaneo was introduced... sold as an MB car but "only" manufactured to MB commerical standards.
