Channel 4 HD and NFL

    Quick question.
Does anyone know if the NFL this season will be on Channel 4 HD, or will it just simulcast the SD source form the normal Channel 4?

We recently had to chuck Sky Sports because it just wasn't worth the price anymore, so what I'm left with is Channel 4 and streaming the rest.

    Thanks....

Not sure yet, nothing has been announced from Channel 4 yet so it's unknown. It would be great if they did show it in HD but they didn't last year, so unless they have signed a new deal for this year, I don't see it... :(

Sun. Oct. 9 Week 5 Green Bay Packers at Atlanta Falcons
Sun. Oct. 16 Week 6 Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears

Sun. Oct. 30 Week 8 Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles
Sun. Nov. 6 Week 9 Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers
Sun. Nov. 13 Week 10 New England Patriots at New York Jets

Yeah, Ch4 are showing the Sunday Night games. Mike Carlson is still there but Gary Imlach isn't presenting, no news on who is replacing him.

    What happened Imlach? :(

Carlson tweeted a while back saying that Imlach didn't have the time to do it this year. I heard rumours that maybe Trevor Nelson could be in the running. Please God don't let that happen.

    Edit:- Here's the tweet;
    Carlsonsports Michael Carlson
No Gary wdve been welcomd back but cdnt make time. Shame cuz was good show. This'll be my 8th regular host in 14 seasons!

I dunno if it's been said around these parts but Nick Halling has left Sky so he won't be there this season.

Oh Jesus please not Trevor Nelson. Bring back Nat Coombs, himself and Mike get on great.

I mute the tv when it goes back to the studio anyways. Cant stand all of them. Most likely going to go with gamepass this year so I dont have to listen to whatever crap pundit they have in either studios.

It sucks so much that we can't subscribe to NFL RedZone here. It's simply the greatest thing ever for the NFL.

Sky butchered it with Adverts when they used it at the tail end of last year.

If Nick's gone from Sky he would be a natural choice to replace Gary, he and Mike Carlson already worked together on Sky. Him or Nat Combs would soften the blow of no Imalch.

Sky's coverage is going to suffer without Nick though.

The UK analysts add something to the NFL coverage, particularly Carlson and the way C4/5 apporoach the SNF game.

Nah Nick hasn't been fired from Sky he's just gone to do full time boxing. He has been floating around different sports for quite a while, doing the football league show on BBC (especially Southampton games), world's strongest man and the NFL.

I wouldn't mind Jake Humphreys doing it, he's not very knowledgeable on the NFL but he worked great with Mike for the superbowl though it probably wouldn't pay enough.

He was a little too uptight for the tone that's expected of SNF, though. He was obviously also told to treat his audience as if they were complete novices too, which may have given a wrong impression of him. As long as the host understanding people watching NFL games at 1:30am aren't likely to be unaware of the basics of the sport then they'll be on the right track.

So Nick has chosen just to do boxing himself or is he tied to a channel? Unless he's now tied to Sky there's nothing stopping him doing NFL on C4 even if the split with Sky on that front was amicable. And yeah, I've seen him odd job on everything from women's volleyball to commentating on the Irieland's Strongest Man competition for RTE. He's certainly a worker!

He's just doing boxing. That's what the folks on the NFLUK forum tell me.

I doubt they could get Humphreys, thinking about it. he was discussed as a possible Andy Gray replacement so he probably has no place commentating on the NFL at 1am unless he has a love of the game.

    Nat Coombs?? Jesus wept.

Trevor Nelson?? Jesus was inconsolable for months.

Carlson is woeful. He's like a grandad trying to remember his grand childrens names. His expert analysis consists of being tongue tied for 5 minutes and just saying

"That guy did a great play their eh ehh eehhh ehhh the Cornerback ehehh what's his name again?? Oh right Revis"

Ulmach is even worse. You look at him and you think he's competing for the guiness world record for the most bored man on tv he just never seems interested.

Nick for Sky is loud mouth but hey at least he know his sh*t. Personally he grew on me didn't find him that bad he certainly liked getting involved.

Yay I want to see more highlights of Van Pelt vaulting over players on a QB run or even his 90 yard bomb interception. Nice guy, awful hair.

Good Piece in general but Imlach mentions why he left the converage.

Even in a single season you could tell he was a damn fine presenter who put the effort in to be knowledgeable about the sport he was covering. Maybe if C4 weren't operating on a shoestring budget for SNF they may have been able to coax him back. Oh well.
