It,s this time of year again now, football starts this weekend, the premiership next weekend.
How are you going to bet this season ? Have you decided on any changes, to make you season more profitable ?
I have decided to become more disaplined and bet with my head and not my heart and try to be less greedy and aim for smaller but long term profits by the end of the season.

No more silly accumulators, No more trying to make big money every week.
Hoping to make about € 20- € 30 regularly over the season as it all adds up.

Sticking to bets that have done well for me in the past. Singles/ Doubles / Trebles, the odd 4 fold accumulator. over/ unders 2.5 goals.
I have never done well with +/- goal handicaps.....And I will not touch the "powerplays" These are bad bets for me :p
I am only a small punter and bet for a bit of fun and trying to find that elusive magic formula of getting regular wins:) If I ever find it I shall set up a dodgy web-site and try to sell it for € 100 a copy :D

I'm going to start betting properly for the first time this season. I've had some bets before, but nothing proper, mainly just a few long-shot accumulators.

I'll probably start a log on here to help keep some discipline and to keep track of my progress. I'm going to try and resist impulse betting and make sure my bets are generally well-researched. I'll also try and stay away from those tempting accumulators.

Looking forward to it anyway sure. :p

I have decided not to have any bets on the football until september. At the start of every new season I say to myself that I will give it a couple of weeks to see how things go......But then the mist appears and drags me in.:p

I am determind to beat it this time ! It makes sense. New managers......new players in teams........players who were good last year might not be so good this year. It is just like horse racing betting on 2 y/o maidens 1st time out with no form. Every team starts from scratch.

I have bought a copy book this morning to record all my bets over the season and have rinsed out a fine empty coffee jar to keep my money ( if I win ).

I hope I hold out.........I feel like a smoker who has given up the fags and has one left in the packet......drawing me back ....The mist....The mist :eek::eek:

I managed to hold out last week ! :)

But this week is harder with the premiership........The mists have got thicker and turned P/P green with yellow wisps........pulling me in :D.

Must resist........Need to see how the teams all play this weekend before committing.......

It is getting harder to resist now. Looking at over and under 2.5 goals from betstudy http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056207039
for every game in the premiership on saturday they go for over 2.5 goals except for swansea which is under - 2.5 goals . It will be interesting to see final results.

I will be interested to see what the result of arsenal- liverpool will be . A good result for either team will show the way ahead. My gut feeling says a draw.
Ditto the chelsea game.If chelsea win well they will be contenders for the title..........If they struggle then its Man Utds to lose. My gut feeling tells me Roy will grab a draw. I would take a arsenal chelsea draw if I was betting ;)

Well I am still hanging in there. Have not had a bet so far.........It,s being torture but I have got this far and I am not going give in now
I will start betting again next weekend........I think I shall start a log as well.

On my last post ^ I was looking at the over 2.5 goals market for the saturday premiership games as tipped on the betstudy site, they predicted every game except the swansea game would be overs 2.5........They only got 2 right, but the swansea game was correct.

The one thing I must stop doing which is just force of habit is to assume that the majority of games in each division will be a home win........The home win now is in the minority and has been for a long time now, yet I still assume it,s still the most common result. I am not alone, when I go to the shop to get my coupon you see lots of lads placing 4 or 5 homes from the premiership so we are all thinking the same. One time this was the way the majority of games were home wins and you had say the odd draw and the odd away. But these days Draws or aways make up the most common results.......Its not getting any easier :(

I have my marked up football coupons since 6 august ( using the old mans method :D ) checking back past results and guess what division had the most home wins ? The scottish 3rd division  The worst? the premiership :pac:
    Food for thought

With all the last minute transfer madness of last week, it has changed all the stats and pre-match predictions for most premiership games.

All the teams involed with transfers now have different line ups and a lot of unknown quanities affecting the whole team.

Its like the leauge starting all over again. It would be wise to just watch out the next 2 or 3 games to see what is occuring with all these new players in their new clubs.

After the last couple of weeks games in the premiership, It is very hard to pick teams to follow in the hunt for winners. Outside of man Utd , Chelsea, and man city Their is no chasing pack, everyone has lost to everyone else.I think that the season will end like last season a couple of points seperating the bottom 10 teams. Its going to be a tough season ahead for selections in the premiership. ;)

The championship is wide open their is about 6 or 7 teams that could win it this year.

I have noticed that down in the lower scottish leagues 1 st, 2nd 3rd divisions lots of games have been high-scoring, rather then do individual teams to win ( as pointed out in another thread ) , Do over 2.5 goals.
sat 17 sep. scot div 3 ,all games were over 2.5 goals, div 1 had 4 overs, premier had 4 overs.
sat 9th sep div 2 had 4 overs.
sat 27 aug div 2 ,all games were over 2.5 goals
sat 20 aug, again all div 2 games were over 2.5 goals.

This where I will be going next week ;) ( I hope I dont jinx it now)
