tesco is currently doing reduced rate for international calls 1c/min

    http://www.tescomobile.ie/international/internationalpromotion.aspx

as per terms and conditions you're allowed to make a call of 200 mins/day and if you exceed the limit you're call will be cut. valid till sept 30 and no connection charge.

just ordered free sims on their website for calling abroad

hope this could be of help to anyone

Note - Rates are mostly reduced for land line call not for mobile UK etc.

Yes. Ya gotta think there is something wrong with the Irish telecoms sector when you have landline rates like this:

    USA|2c/min
    UK|1c/min (I think it's 9c/min normally)
    Australia|1c/min
    Russia|6c/min
    Napal|7c/min
    Vietnam|8c/min
    Egypt|13c/min
    Sudan|20c/min
    Ireland|20c/min
    Afghanistan|25c/min

I've used Tescomobile for calling the US (at 2c/minute) - the quality was perfect.

Not just the telecoms sector, I've recently discovered Anpost's rates are exorbitant compared to the UK and Spain. We need more competition in the postal sector as well.

I've been using Tesco Mobile for well over 6 months as they've had better international rates than Vodafone and O2. There's double credit for each top up by 10 Euro or more. What I like most is the automatic usage of the two credits. The free credit is automatically used for local Irish calls, while the actual top-up credit is used for international calls.

The latest 1c offer just makes it a no-brainer. :)

    For land lines only!
Seriously who outside Ireland has a land line. We only have them because we need them for broadband otherwise we would not have them.
My friends in europe only have mobiles.

Well these "friends" are making it more expensive to call them, so I suggest that you do not bother.
