If Rock sticks around after WM, who should he face at SummerSlam?

Following on from Rovert's thread, after Rock's finished his feud with Cena, who should he face at SummerSlam?

I'd personally like to see him against Orton. Although they should've done this at WMXX instead of the shítty handicap tag match; legend vs legend killer. Both are third generation and Orton's now an institution in WWE; facing the returning legend.

Plus i'd love to hear Rock lay the verbal smackdown on Orton. :p

I know this is a fairly obvious one but Punk set himself up nicely for a fued with Rock over the few weeks before MITB, this could been addressed by Rocky whenever he next return's to WWE, planting seeds for a future fued.

well since vince said today that Rock will be around for ''multiple pay per views'' aside from wrestlemania so i would expect summerslam will be one of them and as the seeds for a fued has already been set verbally at least, i would like to see him face cm punk, thats if punk has'nt been forgot about between now and then.

Survivor Series and WrestleMania could just be the multiple PPV's Vince is talking about. I don't see Rock wrestling outside of Mania, otherwise they wouldn't had be making such a deal of his match with Cena by announcing it a year in advance. I can see him splitting the night after Wrestlemania and back to Hollywood.

you could be right, but i would expect multiple to mean more then just 2, i can see him sticking around in some capacity til summerslam and then go again

Before WM, maybe. I can't see him doing anything immediately post-WM though.

He basically said he'll turn up at Survivor Series & will probably be turning up the odd time from the Rumble onwards to slowly start the build for his Mania match. He won't be wrestling at a SummerSlam or that after imo.Its no coinsidence that Punk/Orton bad mouthed him cause if they get a response it increases the tiny possibility of a match with him & a Big Payday. Rock is a actor now & isn't going to return to wrestle with any regularity,he has no problem finding work & lets put it this way won't have to appear in Psych or have to appear in a consistantly awful WWE film to find work.

Punk surely would be the obvious answer. You could see Punk being a nice fiot and laying into him being a part-timer etc.

Yes both Punk and Miz come to mind as both have dished Rock in promos

I dont think Rock will have a match with anyone else after Cena though I always wanted to see Rock V HBK

Could we see a Rock Vs Undertaker match at mania 29 or is that reserved for Cena?

Jayzus lads, we haven't even had this year's Summerslam, and you're already talking about next year's one and WM29?

I can't see him sticking around for any matches after mania. Who high up on the current roster would put over a part timer? And I can't imagine rock laying down and losing constantly at big events, there is absolutely nothing for him to gain from that.

He didn't come back for the money; his star aura won't take any kind of hit, putting over the new guys, that's hulk hogan thinking! Everyone will be happy with the match of the night and elevating new talent.

I think it'd be a massive mistake to have Rock wrestling at any time before WrestleMania. It'll make the mania match much less special.

Hmm, might bring up Austin and Rock returning and Wrestling at No Way Out 2003; which did a great buyrate, and next month at Mania XIX it fell flat on it's face.

I'd assume Rock/Cena will at least have a rematch if not a trilogy on PPV.

Love to see a heel Rock vs Mysterio or Dwayne vs Punk.

I imagine Rock v Cena would be on the cards. Rock goes over at Mania, Cena goes over at Summerslam.

I'd like to see Punk let loose on The Rock though.

Do you mean Mania 19 did a bad buyrate or that the match they had vs each other fell on its face? If its the latter, then I got to disagree, as that was one of the best matches of the night. Very memorable match also for those who saw it live.

The buy rate was disappointing for Mania 19,the match was good considering Austin spent the night before it in a hospital bed.

What makes you assume that Jay?

I'm guessing the multiple PPVs he will be around for will be Survivor Series (he has already eluded to), Mania and probably the Rumble which could officially start his road to WM where even if its just via satelite he will be making an appearance most weeks which also means he may show at elimination chamber. I wouldent expect that he will have any more matches despite multiple PPV appearance.

However who should he face if he sticks around? I guess Cena would be right as simply put there isnt much point in him beating a lesser star and i dont think people would really accept most of the wrestlers on the roster (there are exceptions) as being anywhere near his level, let alone beating him. Cena however would be a rematch and would either allow for him to leave looking good (after getting the WWE another pay day) or give Cena and the current generation the win the company needs before he leaves again. Only if he was to stay around for a while and have multiple matches would I start suggest lesser names or simply other names (Taker).

hmmm in a way I may have just answerd my question to Jay because if The Rock was back for non monitary reasons him doing another one would def be feasable especially if its him and Cena trading wins and if they are doing massive business. Still think even the scheduling and insurance stuff that he may have to work around with movies etc might mean its a 1 off but i guess we gotta just hope he he catches the wrestling bug once more when he steps into the ring and hears the Millions and Millions of the rocks fans in Miami chanting his name.... jaysus the more I write the more I think he will be back again.

taker will retire this year after 20-0

Punk I think, mostly because of how Punk talked about him in his promo's recently.

I can't see Cena v Rock being a one off match though. I can possibly see it having a few follow up matches before it being settled for good. Perhaps have Punk interfere and cost Rock the match and set up a feud between those two.
