After Air- Con service.

Evening all. Bit of advice required. Just after collecting the car after having the Air- Con fully serviced. It's a 06 Octy.

The reason I left it in was because it didn't start to blow cold air until the engine was fully up to operating temp, so I thought a bit of a gas top up was required.

Since I've gotten it back, there's a list of problems:

    1. It's not blowing as cold as it was before the service.
    2. It only starts to blow warm air, and when I say warm, I mean luke- warm air, when it's set to 25 degrees.
    3. When I set it to any temp above 26.5 degrees, it stops blowing air through the central dash vents.
    4. At any temp above 27 degrees, it's scorching hot. As in almost unbearably so.

I ain't gonna name names as to where it was serviced, because to be fair, I only got the car back at quarter to five, and by the time I called the service department, the were closed, so they're not aware of this issue. And haven't had a chance to reply.

I'm just looking for advice as to what the potential problems might be. As in, has anybody experienced this before.

    Thanks all.

P.S. Writing this on phone, so can't scroll back up. The initial problem wasn't resolved. As in, it's still not blowing cold air until the engine gets fully up to temp.

Send it back and ask them do the job correctly.

Will be doing that alright Henry. Bearing in mind this is all hypothetical, would the garage be inclined to say the the new problems are coincidental?

As far as I would be concerned if it was me, I would feel I left the car in to be fixed, its not fixed... so bring it back!

Post how you get on, but I think you will be fine, would be a long stretch for the garage to say the other probs were there before if you only noticed them when you got it back this evening. Stick to your guns.

Will post how I get on alright. I don't know what they're going o say to be honest. Im just trying to see if anybody else has experienced a similar problem with their air- con, and what fixed it.

Well if somebody called "Chuck Noris" can't sort this out then the rest of us haven't a hope.........;)
Bring it back, it should blow out freezing air from start up (with air-con on). If not then they have not done anything, except maybe attempted to top-up the system.
Start with that and then move on to the other problems.

I know that the dash control unit can give problems. I'm assuming it's got climate control? The part is quite cheap online and afaik simple to fit. Not saying this is the problem but it can give some of those symptoms. Still, bring it back to them.

Yeah it's got dual- zone climate. My initial thought was that it was the control unit on the dash. And having done a search before, perhaps the cabin temp sensor. Hence te thought on the garage in question possibly saying it was coincidental.

It would just be a bit too coincidental from my perspective, as it had all been working, albeit, not being cold from start up when I left it in.

Guess I'll just have to wait and see what their response is in the morning.

Funny enough I also got my car back from an aircon service and having problems!

BMW 3 series, had the air con service with a well known main dealer.

Just tonight I noticed that it now takes ages for warm air to come into the cabin - it used to be right as the temp gauge got on the blue area on the dial - now it's only when it's at normal temperature.

Also the air coming out is only luke warm - warm when the aircon is on. Never had this problem before...

    Any ideas?

Oh I get warm air alright. But I just have less control over it than I used to. And have to set the temp much, much higher than usual.

If this isn't sorted, it's gonna cause serious bother with the unnaturally cold other half come winter time!!!

    Update:

Garage rang this morning, and they want the car over next week to stick it on diagnostics to see what might be causing the problem.

After that, I'll have to bring it back the following week because their air- con specialist is on holidays for a week.

I had been told the usual that the air- con bloke had said the car was fine when he checked it over before giving it back to me. But service girl did accept that I made my initial contact to report the problems within 15 minutes, she took me at my word that the problems were genuine.

I'll update again when I know more.
