Need excellent Fiat mechanic

Can anyone recommend an excellent Fiat mechanic (please no jokes.. ), preferably in the West Dublin / North Kildare area. Has to be someone who REALLY knows Fiats and how to work on them.

I'm not interested in a main dealership - been there, got ripped off, crap workmanship, formal complaint submitted to Fiat Ireland & Italy...... so, never again, if I can help it.

    Any suggestion greatly appreciated

    Mk3/Mk2b Punto
At this moment, there is no problem. I'm just looking for an excellent mechanic to service my car and work on it when it needs it, without me pulling my hair out about the quality of work being done.
For example - I had the timing belt done, a service and a change of coolant done at a main dealer. Cost me an arm and a leg. Got the car back and drove about 2-300 meters. Noticed that it was behaving a bit oddly. Stopped and checked in the engine compartment - found that the f**king idiots had emptied the coolant, but had forgotten to fill it again. Result - head gasket and thermostat gone. They tried to weasel out of it as well, and that pissed me off no end.

In fairness you don't need a fiat mechanic to service it, you just need any mechanic who isn't a fcuking idiot.

I have punto mk1, and everything doing myself, oils, brakes, electrical things... i know it is worthless car, but it does the job, and what else do i need ?? If you are unable do service yourself, just find somebody, who has recommendations from your friends or colleges regular mechanic. Dont think so, youll find just fiats mechanic, good mechanic do number car makes, cos they are very similar.

    Good luck.

    Mine's a 1.2L 8v....
I didn't want to be rude, so I tried to post my request in as neutral a way as possible, but yes I don't particularly care if he is a Fiat mechanic. Just as long as he's not a fcuking idiot and the work quality is good. I know my way around cars pretty well, so honesty is king.

    My car is a 1.2l 8v...but...
there is a snag, as I found to my ...expense. The engine parts (and possibly others as well) aren't the same as the other Mk2b/Mk3 models. Mine was manufactured after July 2005, and it has the upgraded/improved FIRE engine /gearbox etc.
Basics are the same, but there are some additional quirks to working on it.

I'd imagine the basics are the same, just the internals might be a little different and a few bits of electric trickery here and there. Generally they don't be too different.

Have a look through this site, its helped me over the years :)
