Rubbish Gloss screen laptop advice needed!

Hi,
I bought this laptop last December. (http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Lenovo_IdeaPad_Z560_988428.html)
The specs were good as are the reviews. I was dissapointed with the quality of the build, very tinny. The software crashed once meaning a complete re-set and I was lucky I got my data back (I just wonder could that be due to poor build quality)
The main problem for me is the "glossy" screen. I need to be able to show images (mostly photo) on the screen in various brightness environments. Unfortunately anything other than a darkened room makes the laptop view "bleached" and you are looking at reflections in the glossy screen all the time. I have always ensured brightness setting is at maximum.

Due to the glossy screen and poor robustness I have decided to get rid of this laptop and put it down to my mistake in buying it. Unfortunately all laptops in the shops seem to have these "glossy" screens which is really crap for viewing in any sort of bright environment. I have an old Acer (8 years) and the screen is much better than these newer laptops but its specs are too dated now.

Seems like a good idea and perhaps the path I will take. Unfortunately due to the poor build quality and software failure I would prefer to get a new laptop so I would still appreciate if anyone has any advice on a robust laptop with a matt screen.

I've got the same poor opinion on the gloss screens, that's why I'm looking at these. No reviews around though

Whats your budget?

These business range laptops can be configured with matte screens and are among the more robust models.

Lenovo ThinkPad (built like tanks)
Dell Latitude
HP Elitebook

Maybe a little closer to budget the dell vostro 3550 comes with anti-glare as standard and quite configurable for your needs. The sandybridge integrated gpu is actually abit better than the dedicated 310m that came in your lenovo.
Backlit keyboard is a pretty sweet bonus! In terms on build quality its not bad, but it wont compare with the above ranges.

Harvey Norman also had a HP625 15.6in matte for about €330 a few wks ago

You'd need to look at business grade laptops for a matte screen these days. The biggest ones would be the Dell Latitude or Vostro series, Lenovo Thinkpad or Acer TravelMate. Not all of these would be matte but there are matte options available.

I hate the glossy screens too.
