Aer Lingus Carry-On Baggage question

I checked the Aer Lingus website already but I'm just a little confused about one aspect of the carry-on baggage allowance.

It states that you are allowed 1 item of carry-on baggage up to 10 kilos in weight and also 1 other small item such as a handbag, briefcase or laptop bag.

What I want to know is would the additional item, e.g. a laptop bag, count towards the total of 10 kilos allowed or is it in addition to the 10 kilos allowed for the main item of luggage?

I suspect that the total limit of all bags must be 10 kilos but just want to make sure before I go so if anyone knows for sure I'd appreciate your help.

    Thanks in advance :)

Additional small items (camera, personal stereo, overcoat, handbag or laptop) are allowed

Looking at above piece on Aer Lingus cabin baggage allowance, it seems to me that these items are additional to hand baggage allowance.

Otherwise, wouldn't coats, handbags, etc. come into the allowance equation??

    That's my interpretation.

PS. Search boards.ie for 'Aer Lingus carry on baggage' and you will find more answers there which should help (I've just looked).
