Query re change of circumstances

    Hi everyoneÂ*

Just a quick query I want to get cleared up so would be really grateful if someone could advise me on this!

I have sent in my grant forms, just waiting to hear back from them but all going well I should receive the full grant. Now this is based on both my earnings and my social welfare and my parents earnings for 2010.

Now I'm still working but am about to finish up in a week and will be starting my masters in September.

So my question is basically am I eligible to apply for the change of circumstances since I'm about to finish working to do my masters? Because if my grant was based purely on parents income then I would be entitled to the special top up rate as they have a social welfare payment involved.

As I said I worked in 2010 and throughout 2011 so I didn't think this change of circumstances option would be open to me but recently someone mentioned it to me so I just wanted to double check!

    Thanks :-)Â*

    Update!

I've been reading up about this all day and am still at a loss!

I'm basically now wondering will I qualify for the change of circumstances option?
And if so does that mean my entire grant will be based purely on my parents income and social welfare payment?
Or will they just disregard my income but still count my job seekers allowance ?

It doesn't make much sense to me, but as I was reading through the terms and conditions I thought I came across something stating this!

Sorry I'm really confused by all of this! But in a nutshell, if I can have my grant based purely on my parents income and sw payment then I'll qualify for the special rate but if my jsa payment has to be included then I won't!

I'll be finishing my part time work in a week and signing off my jsa casual in about three weeks!

Send the P45 you get when you finish your job to the grant authority. They should then disregard your income from that job in 2010, which may help you get the special rate of maintenance grant.

Thanks for that, I'm actually self employed so no p45 but I'm assuming the same principle applies?

I've been on jsa part time too and will be signing off in a few weeks too, will they also disregard this?

My parents have a sw payment so I don't need the jsa myself to qualify for special rate
