Querying your Insurance quote

    Do you just pay up your motor insurance renewal or do you query the amount?

    I just got my renewal and, same as every year, it was higher than last year.
    I rang the insurance company ( i'm with them over 20 years) as I do every year and tell them I have 4 quotes and ask why theirs is highest. Hold for 3 minutes or so and new quote is €104 cheaper. I took it for granted that everyone does this. I asked a few people, particularly older people and found they are being robbed because they don't query the amount/shop around.
    BTW, same thing happens with different insurance company with my home insurance - got a reduction of €78.

    So, reason for post - Query your quote because it looks like a lot of people are paying too much.

    Yup, rang my insurer and they were offering me insurance of €1580 and when I told them that another crowd offered me insurance at €909 they dropped to €935 (not before trying €1100) which I was happy enough to take for lack of paperwork.

    Always ALWAYS query!

    Yeah I always ring around. When it was renewal time last October, my current insurer were the only one who would quote me on my car though :(

    yup

    when i went for my first insurance for the crowd im with now i was quoted €2557.89

    said to them "wow really... thats a bit mad... (other insurer) are giving it to me for €2000 !" (they weren't really i just wanted to get it lower.)

    sure wouldn't ya know they matched it :pac:

    I always shop around, I give no loyalty to any insurance company same way they don't give it to me. It's been a good few years since I have stayed with the same insurance company over consecutive years. I usually find a cheaper deal somewhere else without compromising on insurance cover.

    I do know people however who do get their renewal in the post and just pay it without knowing if it is competitive or not. The mind boggles...
