There was a modded version which let you use the back camera so probably the same with this. Not great but with only the back camera available its the only option. So you have choice of looking ay video or being on video :)

Video calling works great on the SGS2!

I'd been using the hacked version until now.

Got mine yesterday and installed that version straight away. Always happier to see these features in the unmodified packages though :)

Works on the SGS too, but only uses back camera, the button doesn't switch it to the front one for me (it's selected blue but when I press it, nothing happens), anyone else have that?

Edit: Seems like it's limited to the back camera only :/

Finally Skype got their thumb out!

Unless you're near a mirror :-D. Was delighted when I saw the update.

Won't install for me here on a Desire running Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 RC1
Anyone get it to install on a gingerbread ROM ?

Is anyone else having a battery drain issue?

I installed this yesterday morning, before going to bed my phone was fully charged.

This morning I awoke to find it near empty.

On closer inspection the skype process is still running in the background. Even though I had properly exited the app.

I normally get two days out of my S2 and it was the only app I've installed in over a week.

Anyone know is it possible to have a video call in portrait? Seems to be landscape only, which is a pain in the hole..

Theres an app on the market called "Kill Skype" or something like that. Thats your best bet, other than just uninstalling Skype!

Signing out of skype works fine for me. But yeah it does seem to drain a lot of battery. Especially when there is no signal, it just keeps trying over and over it seems.

Cheers The_B_Man. Got that app earlier this morning. But I ended up uninstalling skype for now. Sure I can download it again if and when I want to use it.

Old Desire here running Oxygen 2.1.3. (Gingerbread) on O2. Skype installed and works fine using the back camera, even on 3G. I don't have a problem with battery drain: as soon as I don't need Skype anymore I log out and kill the app. Not a big fan of Skype by the way, I can't wait for Google Voice calls to be available on phones...

No battery issues with a Desire HD running the standard Gingerbread ROM. Is there any way to make your picture small and the other person's picture big without turning off your camera. It's very annoying!

HTC Desire with stock Froyo. Can't get video calls to work. When I try a 'test call' it says that the receiver i.e. Skype can't receive video. When I ring a friend they can't enable video for me to view and when I try and enable video the screen goes blank for a moment and then comes back to the regular screen and the person on the other side does not get any video.

Hope that makes sense. Any ideas?

The test call is only voice. Not sure about the rest.

if you double tap the small video window it changes it to full screen and vice versa

Would love if they'd support the Samsung Tab 10.1!

The hacked version doesn't work either :(

*bump for new Skype with loadsa new handset support*

That's all well and good for those guys, but is there a way to revert back to the previous version that didn't have the stupid ads (video calling was already working for me)? Where can I get the last version apk file I wonder?

Actually nevermind, the new AdFree update nukes the Skype ads, still might be useful for people without AdFree. ;)
