Need to replace the floors in a 3 bed house. Whats down at the moment is chipboard (carpet on top). There has been some damage to the floor due to burst pipes at christmas. We want to relace the carpet with laminate but need to sort out the actual floor first. We have received a quote and have no idea if its a reasonable one: the quote is for removing the existing carpet in 3 bedrooms and the landing (roughly 34 sq yds); removing all the chipboard that is underneath and replacing it with a new floor. We are not putting chipboard in again - what our carpenter is suggesting is a material that would be essentially waterproof ( sorry I don't know the name of it offhand). The quote is for 1600euros. Any thoughts? Its for a rental property. Thanks

Siobhs, I cant help you on this price, as its hard to know how must grief is involved, but I would suggest you go and get at least 3 quotes to allow you to compare prices. you must give them the exact same breif/specification or you cant compare, so take the first quotes flooring preference/spec and go to at least 2 more guys.
