RAW + L in Canon EOS 400d

I changed to shooting in RAW + L rather than just RAW in Canon EOS 400d yet all it shoots is 2 jpgs. Is this a known bug?
Can't find much elsewhere on this issue only that some people have experienced it.

I suspect this might not be relevant but I've observed that my canon only saves the RAW file in certain shooting modes.

Yeah my dads 350D won't save RAW in any of the auto-shooting modes - I'm pretty sure its a JPEG only setting thats used in all the auto-shooting modes. Auto-Lighting Optimizer, I think its called.

I use RAW+L most of the time now on my 400D. I generally use 'P' mode or 'M', and get both RAW and JPG images. If you use a mode that Canon describe as "creative", you'll find that the camera will only record JPG.

P-Mode looks like this, with both RAW+L

and the same is for Manual

but when you turn to full auto the RAW symbol disappears

and for example in sports it's also gone.

thanks for the replies but it actually says raw+l on screen yet saves 2 jpgs. yes it only shoots raw in m and semi-automatic modes.
when i just select raw it works ok..just the raw+l is the problem

What software are you using to access your 400D photo files?

Can you see any CR2 (RAW) files on your CF card?

Can you post a screenshot of your CF card contents from Windows Explorer (or your OS equivalent) sorted by filename?
