i've been working in Tesco Ireland Ltd in [branch name removed] and for [severa] years and in the last [few] months, I have been given 2 final written warnings for being scammed at the checkouts by a [whatever person] and for letting a third party use my staff discount card which is against company rules but for the 2 warnings that I got the store manager, personnel manager, checkout manager, line manager and store union representative made me read out word for word of the warnings and I was told that's bullying. What should I do if they are bullying me. Who should I go to if they are doing this to me. My dad was going to get the solicitors involved but he told me if we did it, that could bring me down (not sure what he meant by that) but it could have sorted them out and shut them up. can someone help me!

Be aware OP that you have left yourself very easily identifiable to anyone from Tesco reading this thread.

OP, leaving aside the 'scam' part of your post. Allowing a third party to use your staff discount could have easily resulted with you been on the dole.

IMO the reason you were asked to read out the warnings was a way for you to fully understand how serious the warnings are.

    OP, this is not bullying.

It's simply the managers doing what they need to do to make sure you understand.

Frankly, I'm surprised you're stil working there: many managers would have cut your hours significantly.

In this case, you father may be well-meaning but is misguided: put your head down, follow the procedures EVERY TIME, and work hard. Forget talk of "bullying".

..Tescos is one of the better organisations in terms of how the treat their staff and conduct employee relations. The reading out was to make sure you had read and understood the warnings. In the event of a dispute the management would be asked what measures they took to see that you read and understood the warnings. This method, while unpleasant and junior school style, is the surest way of doing it.

Giving your discount card to someone else to use could be classed as fraud and get you into deep trouble. What if 20 relations wanted to use it?

ADuggan you need to start paying attention. You know the rules, and if you don't you need to read them, and then when you break them you get a warning.

You then sign on to a public forum giving your name and complete details of where you work etc. Pay attention, think about what you are doing!

In order to make sure you understand the warning you are obliged to read it out. If you had not read it out would you even have a notion of what was in it?

The we come to the answer: dad says 'its not your fault, they are getting at you'. I bet its not the first time you have heard that. Of course its your fault, you broke the rules, your fault!

Get your act together, start thinking about things, take responsibility, or you will be saying 'its not my fault I'm unemployed'. And change your user name.

Agree with looksee, if I were you I would ask the mods to remove this thread and keep your head down in work, there are people waiting to take your job in the morning, jobs of any kind are scarce!

Not sure what you want here ?

Firstly I work for Tesco and it's clearly stated that there are serious sanctions for misuse of the privilege card. Which you seem to brush off.

Secondly, you are in a union. They are there to be used if you feel you are been mistreated and are non bias. You could get solicitors in on the action but I am pretty sure that Tesco could get some pretty good solicitors also to give you a run for your money.

At the end of the day mention this to the union rep in your store and take it from there and consider yourself lucky to still have a job after your privilege card issues , I no people that have gotten handed P45s over messing about with there cards.

That is not bullying, it is part of the performance management system, I would imagine that the reason that you have been asked to read out the warning is to ensure that you understand the content and to provide you with an opportunity to ask for clarification of any part of the warning that you do not understand.

Don't waste your money on solicitors, you do not have a case, but that will not stop some ambulance chaser, with little or no knowledge or understanding of employment law, charging you excessive sums to sent useless letters to your employer.
