01 mondeo tdci emissions

    hi,have a 01 mondeo diesel tdci that failed emissions today on NCT,the following readings are; smoke 5.570/m engine/oil temp 110 C
    Turbo 3.00/m fail refusal,
    what should i do?The car is driving perfect no uneven running or anything like that,i did not have diesel cleaner or any additive in tank,any ideas or any ford specialists out there.thanks in advance.

    5.5 is fairly high alright.

    If the Mondeo is anything like the Transits they can build up soot in the exhaust. A good hard driving normally blows the worst of it away.

    Does the car do mostly city driving?

    Very common problem is the egr valve getting blocked take it off n clean it n refit then check for vacuum pipe leaks pm if u run into r need more advice

    EGR valve would get my vote here, its not that common though muckey. OP just take it out, disconnect the plug and remove the vacuum pipe(rubber). Then remove two 8mm and 10mm bolts. Its on the left hand side as you look in. Scrap away with it with a screw driver and maybe use thinners and stuff to clean her. Thats saying if its dirty.

    this car mostly does city driving,thanks so far for the replies so far
