AH: More or less sensitive than the crowd down the pub?

From a tangent on the Aussie-collar bomb thread, I thought it warrants a thread on its own. Or probably has done in the past, I don't know.

But basically, this: every now and again a sensitive issue crops up and people are a little bit senseitve about it while others rip in and take the piss. Some are a bit taken aback by this and use the "typical AH" line. However, I 'm pretty much of the belief that what is written here is no better that what is said (or at least thought) down the averaege pub.

Is this a fair comment or not??

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Yes, I think so... but then again I think that the no jokes rule about celeb's that've just died is oversensitive horsesh!t too.

Down in the pub we would probably be pissing ourselfs laughing at many of the ' sensitive ' topics raised in AH and our tone of speech and body language would also be say a lot to which you don't get to see here .

were all keyboard warriors here, people in the pub can hit you , so a bit more tact is needed , on the inside though the people who laugh at a serious thread are still laughing down the pub, theyll just fake sympathy to seem human.

realistically if its not happening to me , its funny in my book

    Pub comparison is fair.
Usual mix of piss taking and people outraged over articles the read in the Sun and the Daily Mail
So yes like a pub possibly Player's Lounge

I go to pubs where you just don't bring up sensitive topics (at least of the personal kind)

drinking in the company of others is therapeutic....but not therapy in my book

To be honest if you give everyone down the pub a keyboard and make them anonymous they would say the exact same as AH does. At least AH is honest in its opinions

More people in AH means more people to get offended, or be offensive.

You couldn't fit all of AH in a pub. It'd be fun to try though.

    Thread needs Pole. :pac:

everyone tries too hard to fit into the after hours clique these days.

it depends on the thread / the posters around. some of the people i know are the complete opposite of pc, so i would definitely say AH is more sensitive, there's always at least one person that comes on a thread and says that's not fair, bla bla bla...

Of course people are going to be a bit more hesitant in company than when on their own, but as I said, are probably thinking it in that case.

    Thanks for the comments.

    There's a clique?

My real life persona isn't all that different to my AH persona tbh.

I can't speak for other folks obv.

Well in the pub, not everyone is going to hear what you said. Where as in AH, everyone is able to read back and scrutinise everything that's written down.

A lot of the stuff i've seen people get offended by here in AH was never intended as an offensive comment.

there are lines, one Ill never forget is that poor girl who was disabled and slowly died in her house for weeks after her mother the primary carer died :(
really horrific. practically everyone was rocognising the horrible situation, but theres always a few dicks who dont know when to draw lines. more socially inept types - sad really.

No stench of farts here, unless they are my own special blend. Same misguided opinions, only with less tact.
