NCT vs broken ondash light adjuster.

A car is due for NCT very soon.
I just realised that dipped headlight adjustment doesn't work (the one the driver sets up depending on how much weight is carried in car).
It's a problem with electric motors in the headlights. They are already ordered, but won't arrive before NCT.

Do they check it while testing a car? Or if the light is adjusted properly, they don't check the ondash adjustment.

Adjuster needs to be set to '0' position

No matter what position it's on, it doesn't change a thing.
So obviously I can leave it in position 0.

Do you mean then, if lights are adequately adjusted, there won't be a problem with the ondash adjuster not working?

Adjuster doesn't have to work as long as lights are correctly focussed.

I know this from experience as a brought a car for nct that we'd just done the lights on, stupidly the mechanic had adjusted them correctly but with the switch in position 5 instead of 0.

First thing tester did was set them to 0 then check. When it failed, they told me they were miles out and to get them done.

Copped what was up, asked to come back later to recheck, adjusted back to 5, unplugged switch. Put it back to 0, brought it back and passed.

Obviously rectified the adjustment back in the garage.
