Presents for Groomsmen

It says it all in the title really...

I have the bridesmaids sorted, just need to sort presents for the groomsmen..?

Any suggestions?

I suppose it depends on what they're in to. We found it harder to get things for the groomsmen also. What we ended up getting was Newbridge Silver keyrings that were also a USB key (our groomsmen all found them really useful) we'd gotten the girls Newbridge necklaces and Mum and I were looking at the site in desperation when we happened upon the keyrings. A friend of mine got little hip flasks for their groomsmen and had their initials engraved on each one (the groomsman's initials not the B&Gs).

The USB things might suit 2 of them but the 3rd one is a farmer so.... He would need something different...
Hip flasks, maybe... I know one of their wives wouldn't be impressed with that though, she always trying to keep him from the drink...

A couple I know got their groomsmen each a pair of Ray Bans. I thought it was a really good idea and they got some great shots in their album of them all wearing them.

If you're not going down the whole "morning suit" road, I've known of other couples who let the groomsmen pick out their own suits (within reason, obviously) and bought them for them as a gift. Again, the pictures were deadly, they looked like something out of Reservoir Dogs.

We got our groomsmen wallets from Debenhams. They have a great selection in there, the ones my husband picked were around €40 each.

All were really pleased with them!

I dont think i will be buying the groomsmen big gifts, as i am buying their suits for the wedding because im not into renting morning suits and tails etc. Actually come to think of it ill be buying them shirts, shoes etc as well so they will just get something small as a present.

Was thinking of a few silly things like those socks you can get with 'groomsman' on them and maybe even cufflinks or something but nothing too big!!

Not necessarily - I bring a hip flask to every rugby match I go to.

waistcoat pocket watch, I actually get great use out of it.

My brother was a best man at the weekend and got personalised cufflinks and a watch with "Best Man all around" engraved on the back. Both things he loved and would use again. Thought they were nice touches.

er Farmers use computers too you know!!! the USB things sound lovely but imo if you're buying them their suits and shirts etc. and they get to keep them that should be enough...maybe a pint or the cufflinks? i wouldn't be buying bridesmaids mad expensive presents either...they'll get to keep their dress and i'm hoping when i get around to getting married that i'll get them dresses they like....

got my lot hipflasks, and I'll get some bloody good whiskey to fill them (stiffeners for the day like! ) but then I know they're all whiskey fiends and they'll see use....

We got our Best Man and Groomsman personalised socks and cufflinks as jokey 'keepsake' presents to wear on the wedding day and then got them restaurant vouchers and paid for their hotel room for the night of the wedding as the rest of their present. They're both married and like going out to eat so we got the vouchers for their fave restaurant.

Obviously we also paid for their suits/shirts/shoes.

Was hoping to get my two groomsmen hip flasks but the only ones available are really crappy ones with fake leather on the outside.

Anybody know of any jewellers/gift shops with decent hip flasks??

My OH was best man recently and the couple got the groomsmen "hot diamonds" brand cufflinks. They are really lovely.

I'm a fan of the hipflasks myself and engraving them sounds like a great idea too. However you know your friends best and if you think that may not go down well, then swiss army knife someone suggested or cufflinks (probably more appropriate for the occasion) is the way to go.
The pocket watch seems like a great idea, but again you'd wanna be sure they'd be into that sort of thing. It might end up in a drawer gathering up dust and then make its way to the second hand shop. I think same goes for glasses or watches, it's a personal enough thing that you'd wanna be sure a particular style suits them.
Also, aren't Ray Bans rather expensive? If you're already paying for suits, shirts etc... it may break the bank! :P

Watches - you dont need to spend a fortune either.

Something they will (hopefully) keeo for manys a year to come.

Why do you need to get them something? I know it's a nice idea but not essential. The OH was Groomsman at a wedding at the weekend and they didn't give them him or the Best Men any presents. I know the Bridesmaids got a jewellery set but only because they were wearing them and I complemented them on them - they didn't do any presentation thing during the speeches! No one missed it either! I suppose it depends on what you are paying for e.g. suits etc. Our friends paid for the OH's suit and paid for our hotel room on the night so the OH didn't expect anything else!

I guess it's not necessary really as they're probably getting other things from the B&G anyway... it's just a nice gesture, which is why it doesn't have to be expensive.
Also, while I know at some weddings the B&G give gifts during the speech, this is not necessary and the last wedding I was at wasn't even missed. However the gifts were given to mums and bridal party early in the morning during prep, i.e. cufflinks to the boys during breakfast and jewellery to the bridesmaids too....

Yeah I know that, but obviously I know these guys pretty well and this particular farmer would have no use for one.
My husband is a farmer and while he does have a computer he would have no need for a USB.

Anyway, I got them cufflinks in the end.
Their rooms were paid for etc...
So it all went well.

I was best man last year and I was presented with a bluebook voucher for 250e. Using it next week in chapter one.

I'll just note that I was not expecting anything for the act of being best man and to this day, while I am still totally blown away by the present, think it was unnecessary as the honour of being best man was enough for me. Maybe the bride and groom thought it was necessary though.
