When i'm too lazy to walk across the room to get the remote to turn over channel and so have to suffer the Late Late/For One Night Only, i wonder what it is with these piss sodden bunch of geriatrics that causes them to start clapping when music starts playing...is it some sort of reflex reaction to music?

On 'For one night only' last week with Christy Moore the stupid ole f***ers started their usual out of tune clapping and obviously some stage director or whatever soon told them to quit it as Christy hates anyone clapping during his songs/music (and rightly so) but what is it about irish audiences that causes them to do this. I've watched chat shows from the UK/US and the audiences listen to the music anc clap afterwards.

    It reaaaaallllly drives me nuts!!!

How anyone can manage to watch the Late Late Advertiser all the way through with that boring fool behind the desk, leaves many others bewildered!

Well I saw an episode of Rachel Ray and when she mentioned Parmesan cheese the whole Americian audience went crazy.

So I'll take clapping along to music any day.

Oh and do you know what drives me nuts?

    Typical US chat show moment:
Celebrity: "Well Dave, I'm from New Jersey.."
    Audience: "wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh"

If you use the correct tone and vocal stylings mention of what day of the week it is will get an American audience a-whooping and a-hollering like they'd just won El Gordo.

An applause sign is probably used.

I guess it would have a pitch, controlling it would be difficult though.
