Freeview box - can I use my Sky dish?

I've got Sky + in my main living room, and Sky freeview box in my bedroom. However the wife is not super impressed with the channels available through the Sky freeview

If I buy a standard freeview box, can I just swap this for the sky freeview box in the bedroom? Will it use the same connections, dish etc ? Or would I need a seperate dish for a freeview box?

There is no such thing as a Sky Freeview Box.

Freeview Boxes work off an aerial and only availble in UK/NI.

Freesat Boxes which are the equivelant of Freeview except off a Sat dish. You do not pay Sky for this service as it is free and nothing to do with them

What are you trying to do ?

Can I get Freeview through my satellite dish?

Freeview is only available through the digital terrestrial television system, that is, through an aerial.

I should have been a bit clearer

I have a sky box in my bedroom which was previously part of a multiroom package, but I cancelled the subscription. So I know just pick up the free to air channels through this box - BBC, Channel 4 etc ..

So what I am asking , is can I replace this box with some kind of freesat box and pick up more channels (like RTE for example)? Would a different box work with the existing Sky dish? Or is it possible to get any more free to air channels than we already have?

Irish channels are not available free via a satellite dish, Sky sub only. Aerial required to receive them.

List of channels on Freesat - Freesat receiver required via existing Sky dish
List of free-to-air channels at 28°E - FTA satellite receiver required via existing Sky dish

    Irish channels via aerial
