Got my 2.1 a good few years ago. Apparently the old "Pay for an M.A." option is still available (used to be about 400 or so). Anyone know anything about this?

Over €600 for last year it seems. Unless it's over 50 years ago you got your degree!

Will a master of arts actually help in the employment market?

    Why would you want it?

It's a great piss-up. Stay in rooms for the weekend with your mates and get to take your degree alongside the honourary degree folk.

The reason is, some employers are using a "Masters" as a CV-filter for certain jobs. Better to have it than not. I know it's a BS 'qualification' but it is Trinity-accredited, and may get you past the first CV-screening.

Just be careful if you're looking to go back to do a real Masters and are in receipt of a county council grant - they won't cover any of your fees if you already have the M.A.

MA from trinity isn't counted as a post grad qualification so he should still be able to go back and do one later shouldn't he?

Apparently not. I could be wrong about this, but it's something to consider.
