Couldn't touch Torres at 8/1, Suarez at 12s much better value. Aguero 14/1 if he adapts well looks good.

I think jermain defoe is a huge price at 40/1.

Really fancy Rooney and Van Persie, I always try to back penalty takers in this market.
Van Der Vaart is 40/1 in some places, great value considering he'll prob be playing just behind a lone striker in a lot of games, and takes the pens.

Van Persie will spend approximately 35% of the season injured.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 79 ✭✭seathestar

Although Van Persie has had his injury problems through the years and considering he scored 18 goals in the league last season even with the problems he has had he could be a good shout in the hope he gets just a few more games than last season, he was only 3 off the top spot last season.

Aguero at 14/1 is too good to resist. If he hits the ground running he would be an excellent bet.

I'm gonna go for Nani this year though. Just have a feeling!

RVP would be a cert if he could play 75% of the games but he never does. The Racing Post have tipped Bent e/w as he will now be taking the penos with Young gone plus you know there will be no squad rotation with him.

I've done a small little EW double of Bent and Mackail-Smith for top goalscorers going on the Racing Post's selections.

As you say, Bent should be peno taker and guaranteed games as no.1 striker. 20 goals in all comps in 39 games for Villa and Sunderland last season is a nice return so I think 14/1 is nice

Hernandez would have to be worth a few bob, 20 last season in all comps and he will be playing far more this year i reckon

    Already have Suarez @ 12/1 and Kuyt @ 66/1.

Hernadez pre-injury was one I was near sure I'd have money on. In two minds now. Might still throw something on him or one from Kun @ 14/1 and Bent @ 14/1 look good too. Gervinho @ 25/1 might be worth something too. Those who saw him last season for Lille know how good the guy is infront of goal.

Kuyt too @ 66/1 is worth considering, a Carroll injury and the Dutchman will be starting upfront and with Gerrard injury prone these days, penalties with little doubt will be given to him. His penalty record is up there with the best around.

Different league, but Soladado looks good value e/w in Spain @33/1. Absolute goal machine the second half of last season when he settled in at Valencia.

I think Jermaine Defoe is definitely one to lay. He has only scored more than thirteen goals in a season once before, and he was fairly hopeless last season.

How many places is each way: top three? Possibly a good shout for each way. Outright winner will either be Messi or Ronaldo anyway again, in my opinion.

    PP has top 4 anyways

Could be a good bet so, especially now that Aguero has gone to Man City.

i think rooney is a good price. Hes been in great form from march onwards. He had a great pre season too.
Van persie - like every1 has said just cant trust him to stay fit
While i think suarez is and outstanding player he hasn't exactly banged them in in england since he arrived. Add to that the fact hes gonna be late startin and may be exhausted after his copa america exertions.
Like others have said i don't think i'd take torres if you gave me 30/1 just looks a different player from his liverpool days. And by all accounts he was outshone by drogba in pre-season
    So its rooney for me.

    I like Dirk Kuyt's price - value!

Hernandez would be my only other pick.

He's been unlucky to a degree has Suarez in the fact that he doesn't take penalties anymore unlike during his time at Ajax. As well as that, he's been rather unselfish for the most part so far in his time at Anfield eg: first goal v Fulham away as well as the fact he's hit the woodwork a good few times.

Fatigue could play a part true, but he just comes across as one of those players who will go on and on. He like Kuyt is not injury prone which is an massive + too.

Iv backed Van Persie at 9/1 & Andy Carroll at 22/1 so far , will probably have a few quid on either Hernandez or Suarez . I think if Tevez leaves City then Balotelli could be a good each way bet at 25/1, whether he gets enough minutes on the pitch remains to be seen but there is no doubting the mans ability.

RVP if he can stay injury free would be my bet. Clint Dempsey for a bigger priced e/w bet i'd say.

Ive gone EW on D.Bent @14/1

gone for a rooney united double bet :)

If rooney stays fit for the season i think he has a great chance.i'm with you on the man u/rooney double.if sneider comes it could be even better for rooney.

    I don't think he will. :)

but torres looks sharp already. Hope he doesn't hit good form right away. Suarez could threaten too, although liverpool mightn't score as many goals as they would like. RVP won't get it this year, nasri and fab gone could really hurt arsenal.

Guessing Aguero is the new favourite after that performance!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 113 ✭✭First Explorer

Just checked there Aguero now 5/1 favourite for top goalscorer with Rooney 7/1 with Paddypower. They could be jumping the gun a bit, ok he played well but the opposition wasn't exactly good!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 184 ✭✭Dailynaps

Aguero can be layed at around 9/2 on exchanges, what an over-reaction! Played brilliantly (for 30 mins) but tougher opposition, lean spells and possible injuries await.. I'd like to see how he'd cope with those obstacles first.

He mightn't start the next few games either, mightn't be fully fit.

Right so after this last year:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055977579

I've backed Carroll each way at 22.0. Also gone for Adebayor at 100.0 on Betfair as soon as Keane moved from Spurs.

Obviously Adebayor still needs to join Spurs but worth a punt.

Anyone else think Shane Long at 66/1 is worth a small e/w punt? If he can score against Man Utd and Chelsea back to back well who can''t he score against.:D

Have a small EW on Shane Long myself, Also have Bent and Torres

Those 2 goals were his only shots on target in those games.

you need to research your bets a bit more.

My Double of united and rooney isn't looking bad so far :P

Here is the current Premier League goal scoring standings.
    Wayne Rooney 9
    Sergio Aguero 8
    Edin Dzeko 6
Adebayor, Agbonlahor, Best, Di Santo, Klasnic 3, others 2 and worse.
PP have the odds as 2/1 Rooney, 3/1 Aguero and 6/1 Dzeko.
My maths are telling me that for an €11 outlay staked 5,4 and 2 the returns are 15, 16 or 14. This is either a 27%, 36% or 45% profit margin.
In the last 5 seasons the winners have scored 20, 29, 19, 31 and 20 goals, and as I subscribe to the “points on the board” mentality, surely this is a great way to guarantee a profit.
If you wanted to be braver, you could omit Dzeko and then go 60 @ 3/1 on Aguero for €240 and €80 on Rooney for €240. That’s 140 to win 240 which gives you a 70% profit!!!
I know there are another 700 players who could ruin this bet, but they aren’t exactly putting themselves in the limelight, are they?

There's been a Man Utd player in the top 3 for the past 4 years, He's a certainty I think, penaltys and free kicks, nani and young supplying.

There'll be rotation at City once a player doesn't score for a few games.

Looks like it's between Rooney and Aguero then - the value has gone now (I went with van Persie at the start) :( 67% of Dzeko's goals came in one game and he's not a regular starter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 318 ✭✭useurename

If rvp could take a few weeks rest before the euros for holland i'd be delighted.Rooney / Man Utd double at 16/1 at the start of the season.I've lost the docket but i'm still dreaming....
