just failed the nct due to worn flexible brake pipe and no display of chassis number. i think the car was crashed before i got it and the chassis number which i think should be displayed on the bottom panel when you open the boot was never replaced. is there anyone on here with a 206 that could tell me is it just a sticker of some sort with the number or is it indented or melted in to the panel? and any idea how much a flexible brake pipe would cost me??
    cheers

    hi
From my experience, brake pipes only come in pairs and you'd be looking at around €30 for them. Then i suoopose you'll need a half litre or so of brake fluid for top up - add on another €10, so €40 in all
are you doing it yourself or getting a garage man to do it? if getting a garage expect to treble the above at least.

chassis no. usually stamped into the car somewhere, not sure where on peugoet but often found on or around the part where the bonnet locks onto. can also be seen sometimes through a little "window" in the blacked out area at the bottom of the windscreen. Sometimes it is also engraved onto the windows.

will be getin a mate to do it so that should be grand. i think the number should be displayed on the panel where the boot locks but not 100 % sure. just need to know if its stamped in to the bodywork or just a number plate?

Brake pipes for the 206 are a easy job. They don't comes in pairs so just fit the one that you have failed on.

My dads car failed for no display of chassis number about 2 weeks ago as well its meant to be in the boot beside the info plate,i checked about 6 206 in the last few days from various friends and family and 4 out of the 6 cars had no number in the boot.I rang a main dealer and he has never heard of a 206 failing because of this as he reckons half the 206s in country dont have the number where it was meant to be.
The main dealer put the number in the boot for us and gave us a letter stating the car is Ok,the nct centre was portlaoise.
When i brought the car back for inspection the tester was also surprised it got failed the first time.
