GALWAY TDs POOR AT ATTENDING DAIL VOTES

August 2, 2011 - 10:26am GALWAY TDs POOR AT ATTENDING DAIL VOTES

The rate at which Galway TDs are participating in Dail votes falls as low as 13 percent.
According today's Irish Independent, Galway West TD Noel Grealish has voted just three times between March 9th and the end of May this year.
Deputy Grealish was also absent for 11 votes, despite being present in Leinster House.
The report also names Deputy Eamon O'Cuiv as having voted 15 times out of 24, and missed 7 votes when he was present in the building.
Two Galway TDs Sean Kyne and Brian Walsh were present for all of the 24 votes so far this year.

    No information for Derek Nolan.

According to the Irish Independent, once a TD is in the building, they can claim expenses for the day, even if they don't vote. Most who were asked why they did not vote said that they were working on important constituency work and could not vote.

Do you think it's reasonable for our Galway TDs to claim expenses while not
    voting on legislation?

Personally, I think they should always be there for votes as they already have a separate allowance for constituency staff & expenses.

Noel Grealish has been doing the same for years, no surprise there. Anyone who votes for him is as good as voting Healy-Rae or Lowry.....

If the meetings were in Carnmore, or about Carnmore, Noel would be there. People get what they deserve and it's a sad reflection on Galway that people like this are elected to the Dail.

Thanks be to God, at least, that people like him and Healy-Rae or Lowry don't currently hold the balance of power.

There are so many important issues to be dealt with, but such 'Independent' TDs only care about looking after their own back yards.

They did in the last budget and chastised the Irish people to monumental and vicious cuts for a casino in Tipp and whatever else in South Kerry.

Luckily, Grealish's seat would be in great danger if he continued support for the Government and pulled support beforehand.
