Tooth reshaping to fix crown shape?

    Hi guys

I recently went to a dentist to get a filling sorted before going travelling, long story short he offered to crown my root canal treated teeth for me on the cheap before I went, as he thought they didn't look great. Now in fairness, I did explain to him that I've had them whitened and they actually looked alot worse before, and I was happy with them, but I got really paranoid after he mentioned it and decided to go with the crowns.

They're white now, no doubt about it, but I'm really not happy with the shape. He asked me if I was happy after he did them, and I told him they were too big looking, he then agreed and filed them down a bit. He was adamant they looked great then, so I figured maybe it was just me and that I'd get used to them. But 2 weeks later, I'm really not happy.

My front teeth were a bit crooked to start with, but not as bad as before I had braces a few years ago. Now, though, my front two teeth seem 'out of place' in comparison to the others, kind of a different shape if that makes sense..they were definitely smaller before. And one is overlapping the tooth beside it a bit, which wasn't the case before.

I'm over in South Korea now, but I've heard of a dentist here who's had good reviews online and thinking of heading to her - it's mod edit (please remove if I'm not allowed to link here!). She offers tooth reshaping, which I think might be my best option now, but I wanted to check with you guys and see what you think? In fairness to the dentist at home, he did say porcelain veneers or crowns were my best option inn a few years but he also told me my teeth would look better with the composite crowns and that they would even push them back a wee bit, which they haven't. I wish now I'd just gone to the guy who bleached them for me in the first place, but it was 2 days before I left the country and I just had no time as he's based in Kildare, plus I didn't have crowns in mind when I went in for a filling!

I'd really appreciate any insight as to my options here, I'm shooting in the dark tbh. My smile is so much better than it used to be, and 5 years ago I'd be delighted to have teeth like this, but after all the work I've had done I guess I'm becoming more of a perfectionist, and these 2 front crowns are really bugging me now.

    Thanks a mil
    G

No names please. Looked at the website and the work looked pretty good. However if your plan is to come back to Ireland I would maybe get it done where someone will have a interest in maintaining them for you.

    Sorry about that!

I'm not going to be back in Ireland for at least a year, and I don't really want to wait that long. What maintenence would I need on reshaping though??

If its just composite then the dentist can file if for you, but it sound like you should consider a more comprehensive approach in the future, be careful who you let loose on your teeth.

I normally am, but I had a pretty bad dental phobia until about 2 years ago, where I'd barely even make it to the front door let alone the dentist chair, and I'm still pretty nervous. So now if I feel in anyway comfortable with a dentist they get my vote, there's alot to be said for putting someone at ease. Also, it's a cosmetic dentistry that came recommended to me. Tbh, I think the dentist just wanted to get rid of the discolouration, and I was probably expecting too much to have them exactly as they were shape wise, especially with composites. I only had 2 days before I left and the idea of leaving with those teeth sorted for the cost of a filling seemed too good to be true, and I thought I'd be kicking myself if I didn't get it done. Turns out it was though!

I'll definitely go back to the other dentist who bleached them to get porcelain veneers/crowns done in Ireland in the future, but for now I'm going to have to try te re-shaping I guess as it's my only real option at the moment.
