    Hi guys,

Can anyone give me some advice please. My battery in my iphone4 has given up in the last 2 weeks or so. I need to charge it twice a day with very little use. Nothing new etc has been added and I close everything, GPS etc so I reckon the cells must be gone. I have about 1 month left in the warranty so what I want to know is is it possible to get apple to send just a battery or does it have to be the whole phone has to be replaced? Second thing is if I get the phone swapped out and pay the €30 for an immediate replacement how long do I get to send back the old phone to Apple? Or are you supposed to swap it with the courier when he drops in the refurb? Third thing, do I just need to do a sync with my itunes before giving my old phone back or do I need to do a backup in itunes or is this the same thing? Finally, what do i need to do to my old phone before giving it back to apple to remove all my data and to remove the jailbreak. I'm currently on 4.0.1 and don't rely on a carrier unlock

    Thanks guys

    Give them a call on 1850 94 61 91

The best option if you don't mind handing over €29 is to go the the Advanced Repair Option. They send you a new / refurbished iPhone and you have a number of days to send back your old one to them, in a prepaid courier pouch...

    Very good and quick service...;)

Just remember the hold they put on your CC until the original is received by them.

And, if they find any water damage they will charge you the money they have held.

Interesting.... Rang apple - i only have 20 days left in warranty - the advanced replacement is now €39 but they said if I take out the Applecare for next year for €69 there is no advanced replacement charge on this occasion! Pretty sweet so I jumped at that. Only thing is the girl said the courier will want to take my old one back immediately - is this right? How do i backup my phone numbers and stuff? Is that using the backup option or by doing a sync

    Thankies

Oh and the CC hold is now €570 for a 32 gig ip4 - there coming down in price.....

I thought jailbreaking the iPhone voids the warranty???

Dubdj: You can reverse most jailbreaks by doing a full restore on the phone.

Corklad32: You back up your phone to iTunes and when you plug in the new one you should get an option to instal the restore files onto the new one. As for sending back the old one, THey send you out a little box and envelope with the replacement phone. You put the old phone into it but you have a few days to send it back as most couriers won't take a package until the evening, I know that was the case when I did it a few months back.

just sync/back up your phone on iTunes, i spent hours trying to figure out my sisters when she went from 3GS to 4 and in the end a simple back up and restore from that back up put all her contacts and photos onto the 4.

Could you please tell did the courier collect the phone straight away or you had to send it back within 10 days?
    Thanks

From the time they send it you have 14 days to return it. Mine was sent on a wed arrived Friday and i didn't send it back for 8 or 9 days after that. Make sure though you get it back within the 14 days or they will charge about €250 if you're late. IF you think you wont make teh 14 days ring them and advise them and they will generally give you an extra week without any penalty
