    Hi,

I have had a look thru this board but can seem to find anything that answers my questions. Information is very difficult to come by as the local welfare office has stop taking information queries and it near impossible to get a phone call answered.

I applied for Ocupational Injury benefit in Nov '10. I done the assessment about 3 weeks ago. I know the assesor needs to send their report to the chief assesor who then sends a report to the deciding officer. But what i would like to know is.

How long does this all take?

If they put me on a pension does this get back dated to the time the claim was made?

And with Illness benefit i have been sending in weekly certs, It doesnt look like i will be back in work for at least a year even if i can get back at all, So when do i stop sending in weekly certs and start sending in monthly certs?

Thanks for any information, I have been turned away from the local welfare office twice because they dont do information anynore. And the citizen information people dont have the information i need.

No idea how long it will take

Yes all or any payments will be back dated to when the claim was made

You will get a letter from the dept telling you to change to monthly certs

I was handing in weekly certs for 5 years. Out of the blue I got a letter and it was all changed to twice a year.
The doc told me that usually they change from weekly to monthly after 6 months and after a year to twice yearly.
All different now- the department is under severe stress and things take very very long now.
The craziest thing: After a year on the 6 monthly certs I was called for an assessment and found fit for work. I had to appeal and won. The second assessor did not understand why I was declared fit for work...
All quite now- till the next assessment waiting down the road.
Good luck in this bureaucratic jungle !

You can be put on monthly certs if you get a letter from your GP asking for DSP to put you on a monthly cert.
